Local Essex boy Matt Cardle has won the X-Factor!
Watched by over 17 million viewers last night, Matt Cardle won the ITV's X-factor competition.
The 27 year old from nearby Little Maplestead, proved to be the most popular contestant throughout the 10-week competition as voted for by the public and was crowned winner in last night's live final.
Cardle beat tough competition from Liverpudlian, Rebecca Ferguson and boy band, One Direction to take the title.
Matt's debut single, titled When We Collide is a cover of Biffy Clyro's Many of Horror, and is being promoted as a strong contender for the number one chart hit this Christmas.
