The UK Secretary of State for Business, Mr Vince Cable, recently announced that the United States Automotive Corporation General Motors had just completed a negotiated business agreement with the UK government and a number of private companies soon to be worth over ₤100 Million, which will help to boost manufacturing jobs with numerous suppliers across the UK. These new business initiates will help to stimulate new business development in many areas of the UK Automotive Industry.

A number of industry leaders welcomed the latest news, and stated they were looking forward to new business opportunities to follow. Vince Cable pointed out that it showed how the different sectors of the auto industry could work together with the UK Government to solve pressing economic matters, and it demonstrated how small UK companies could compete effectively with larger overseas corporate firms. This close co-operation between government and business could help to expand and grow other related areas of the automotive industry such as the contract car hire, car finance sector and other smaller businesses associated with the industry.

The Chairman and CEO of Vauxhall Motors, Mr Bill Parfitt, who also chairs the UK Automotive Council, also mentioned that the successful completion of the new agreement showed how the Automotive Council efforts had been successful in assisting businesses and the UK government to concentrate on the UK automotive industry. The Vauxhall Company will be heavily involved in the arrangements where they will be providing most of the internal components to a number of automotive sites.
