Everyone is invited to write a message in the Book of Condolence which will be in the reception of the Municipal Offices on the Promenade in Cheltenham until Friday 10th January, 2014.
If you prefer, you can write your message online at: www.cheltenham.gov.uk/mandelatribute. where you can fill in a form which will be printed off and added to the book for you. This form will also be available until Friday 10th January.
As Mr Mandela’s funeral is to take place on Sunday,15th December, Cheltenham Borough Council are to fly the flag at half mast over the Municipal Offices at the weekend as a mark of respect.
Mayor Wendy Flynn, said: “Nelson Mandela was such an inspirational figure. I am sure there are many people in Cheltenham, like me, who want to pay their respects and so we have created a Book of Condolence to give people that opportunity.”
When the Book of Condolence is complete it will go to the South African High Commission in London.
