St Paul’s holds focus on the generosity between God and His world, as well as between one another. As a learning group, they endeavour to answer the tough questions and discuss the subjects that many would prefer to shy away from. St Paul’s has the aim to allow access to worship for all in the community and beyond.
As a community church, St Paul’s and its congregation holds focus on improving the local surrounding area and transforming lives through the love and power of Jesus and Christianity. Since the partnership with Trinity Church in 2006, this mission has grown stronger and more achievable.
St Paul’s provides a location for the community to socialise and connect. For children, the church has set up various groups including ‘Shrimps’ (for pre-school children), ‘Starfish’ (for those in reception year, year one and two), and ‘Sharks’ (for children in school years 3-6). All three groups allow children to learn the stories of the Bible in their own ways with creative and craft activities in between. ‘The Baby Room’, for children under 18 months old, is also available and is similar to a crèche room. It is connected to the main worship space and is an ideal opportunity for parents and their young children to enjoy the service through a live video feed, with easy access to toys, teas & coffee and changing facilities.
St Paul’s also arranges numerous youth group events for those aged between 11 and 19 years old. With St Paul’s Hi-Vis Football club meeting on Mondays, the church is kept busy with tons of activities. Youth Club is held Fridays, 7.30pm at the Church Centre. St Paul’s groups for discussion such as ‘Deeper’ and ‘The Net’ are held Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings respectively. For more information on the youth groups, or to see what events are planned for the next few months, view the webpage or ask in the church.
Students are made very welcome in St Pauls, with the opportunities to get involved with kids work, the youth clubs, football teams and helping around the church. The website details the various events throughout the week, (from Football Mondays, Sunday film nights and a Thursday Home Group), as well as contact information for any budding volunteers.
For adults, St Paul’s tries to encourage four qualities in their groups; to belong, to give, to serve and to grow. These may be shown through various events such as small worship groups, home study groups, through a community event, or to helping a neighbour or someone in need.
Numerous other groups and gatherings are held at the church and can be found via the ‘What’s Going On’ page.
St Paul’s also offers the opportunity to be part of Alpha – a course for anyone interested in exploring the big questions of spirituality, religion and life. Alpha meets on Wednesday mornings, 9.30am from 18th September, running for 10 weeks.
Using the benefits of the internet, St Paul’s can now share podcasts of bible readings and recordings of services via the download area on their website. These can be downloaded and played at your leisure, so you can never miss out.
