The Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway, Chester - great fun for all the family!
The historic Grosvenor Park in Chester features beautiful gardens, a children's playground and a small cafe and, of course, the fantastic Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway. This is a very popular trip or day out for young and old alike and has become one of Chester's top tourist attractions.
The Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway was built in 1996 to commemorate the centenary of the Duke of Westminster's railway at nearby Eaton Hall and is conveniently located only a few minutes walk from Chester city centre.
This is one of the most child-friendly tourist attractions and children just love to ride on the Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway, which operates in the beautiful surroundings, complete with a long wooden bridge, pond with ducks, moorhens and the additional attraction of a noisy white goose.
The railway also has two level crossings, a station building, which acts as a rain shelter, and an engine shed to house the steam and diesel trains.
Diesel and steam trains operate on weekends and school holidays throughout the year. The ride is approximately ¼ mile long and fares are reasonable. The railway also has a small souvenir shop.
Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway is well worth adding to your list of Chester tourist attractions and captures the atmosphere of steam whilst blending in with the character of the park.
