Cheshire Jets will be aiming to repeat their mid-December 112-87 victory at Prestige Homes MK Lions when the sides meet at Northgate Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Jets coach Paul Smith was pleased with that performance:
“We shot the ball extremely well which will always help regardless of everything else you do.We will need to improve defensively, and try and stay out of foul trouble.
“We were on form that day and they hadn’t played for three weeks so we are not reading too much in to the result of that one. We are expecting a very tough game.They have a lot of quality throughout the side. Travis Nelson has been a very good addition to the MK squad and looks to be one of the better big men in the league.”
Jets fans will have heard the news that big man Jason Killeen has been released after a short pre Christmas spell at the club to be replaced by American centre Steve Smith. The 25 year old who hails from Sioux Falls in South Dakota, jetted into Chester ready for his debut at this weekend’s games against Leicester Riders and Milton Keynes Lions.
Smith is signed up for the next six weeks until the return of Jets talisman Matt Schneck who was banned for three months by UKAD for unknowingly ingesting a banned supplement.
Coach Smith said;
“I’m happy that we managed to bring Steve in he brings with him a good offensive and defensive game as his stats show. Steve has come straight out of University and has the hunger to succeed but also the right attitude to be a good team player. We needed someone to come in to replace Matt until he returns in February and I believe Steve is the right player to help keep us on track”
