Helen Thompson, Partner and Head of the Litigation Business Group at SAS Daniels LLP, has become a new Trustee of St Ann’s Hospice.
St Ann’s is Greater Manchester’s largest hospice and provides support to people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses. It cares for more than 3,000 people a year and supports families at three sites in Stockport, Little Hulton and Wythenshawe, as well as offering support to people in their own homes.
Helen was elected by members of the board after applying for the role and undergoing an interview process. She is now set to help the hospice using her expertise in regards to business planning – alongside attending fundraising activities.
She said “I’m thrilled to have been elected as a Trustee of such a worthy cause. With services provided 24 hours a day, seven days per week, St Ann’s needs around £16,000 a day to provide the necessary care which is free to all patients and their families.
“In my new role I hope to make a real contribution to the hospice. It has a positive influence on so many people’s lives in the local community - and with the imminent NHS reforms it is more important than ever that they plan strategically for the future.”
Elaine Darbyshire, director of strategic communications at NHS North West, has also been appointed as a new Trustee.
