A team of charity cyclists from The Chester Grosvenor used pedal power to raise £800 for a good cause.
Eight members of staff from the five-star hotel took part in the cyclathon in aid of Hospitality Action.
Chefs and housekeepers were among the team who pedaled their way from outside the luxury hotel in Chester city centre to Rhyl clocking up 17 miles on cycle paths.
The team consisted of employees from every part of The Chester Grosvenor including baker Barry Littler, head housekeeper Magda Radoch and food and beverage manager Mark Bevan.
Room service was represented by Dale Reynolds and the sales and marketing team had Angela Airey, Hayley Williams, Elizabeth Parry and Stephanie Edwards take part.
Managing director Jonathan Slater said: “This was a sterling effort from everyone involved. The team were really good sports and in great spirits. I’m very proud of all of them for supporting a charity that offers people from our industry a helping hand.
“They couldn’t have done it without the assistance of our chief engineer Ted Griffiths who shared his local knowledge and business contacts such as Catering Engineering (NW) Ltd who loaned a van to the team.
“A big thank you also to the Taste Academy who fed and watered the team upon their arrival in Rhyl. A well done to everyone involved.”
The Chester Grosvenor team braved strong winds to reach Rhyl where they met their cycling counterparts from Bodysgallen Hall, Llandudno, who were raising money for the same cause.
Both hotels’ charity fundraising is part of a nationwide cyclathon to raise money for Hospitality Action, which helps people in the hospitality industry who have fallen on hard times and cannot support themselves or their families.
The Chester Grosvenor is well on its way to raising its target of £800 but donations can still be made at http://www.justgiving.com/teams/Chester-Grosvenor.
