The new National Minimum Wage rate will be effective from 1st October 2011:
• The adult rate will increase from £5.80 to £5.93 per hour.
• The "youth development rate" (for workers aged 18 to 21) will increase from £4.83 to £4.92 per hour.
• The youth rate (for workers aged 16 to17) will increase from £3.57 to £3.64 per hour.
• A new apprentice rate of £2.50 per hour has been introduced.
