Chesterfield Canal Trust have a scheme ready to build the next stage of Staveley Town Lock, to connect up the bridge over the tail of the lock and to construct the first building. This will be based loosely on the old Tapton Lock House.
They need £20,500 in match funding that will then release a grant of £200,000 to get started. There is already £17,000 of this in the Staveley Town Lock Fund and other funds.
Therefore a further £3,500 is needed by November this year, or the whole grant will be lost. We are appealing for donations to help reach this target.
In order to help us secure and receive these funds, you can donate directly on the Chesterfield Canal Trust website by donating a brick for £5, a hod of bricks for £50 or even barrow load of bricks for £100. Please don't forget the Gift Aid!
You can also donate a brick as a present or in memory of a loved one.
Thank you for your support.
