Side Effects directed by Steven Soderbergh who made his debut in 1989, when he wrote and directed Sex, Lies, and Videotapes. The film stars Channing Tatum who gets jailed for insider trading, we see him released from prison and being met by his wife, played by Rooney Mara. She is mentally unstable and visits a psychiatrist played by Jude Law. Law counsels her and prescribes a new wonder drug.
Events take a dramatic turn and the plot thickens. There are more twists and turns then a corkscrew. Just when you think you have worked it out, you realise that things weren't as they first seemed.
Mara puts in a brilliant performance and she drives the film along, we the audience and Jude Law are captivated by her and taken in by her character.
If you like your thrillers you will like this because it's not easy to work out and it keeps you guessing, until all is revealed at the end.
