The Spireites travel to Tranmere for their first match in league One. There isn't many teams at the top level that can say they sold a player to Bayern Munich, but Tranmere can, having sold Dale Jennings to them in the Summer. The 18 year old was voted League One Apprentice of the season, scoring a wonder goal against Plymouth, which brought him to attention of a lot of bigger clubs. A Premiership team had a bid turned down in January.
They also lost Aaron Cresswell to Ipswich, the defender made 80 appearances over the last 3 seasons. To make matters worse they signed a Brazilian striker called Dantas who scored 2 goals in a behind closed doors friendly against Shrewsbury, only to be refused a work permit.
They have signed Robbie Weir a classy and versatile midfielder, who slots nicely into their midfield and Michael Kay a very comfortable defender, both signed from Sunderland having spent last season on loan at the club. They have re-signed Danny Holmes, the defender played only one game before going to The New Saints, but Parry was that impressed with his development that he brought him back to the club. Goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams joins the club having been released by Rochdale on a Two year Contract. Former Bury defender David Buchanan can also play in midfield as signed for the club.
I see another season of struggle having battled against relegation for the last two seasons. Although Parry as done well as manager, the fans feel they need someone to take up to the higher level and challenge for promotion. Their Key Player is Showummi not very graceful, but the forward can out muscle anyone at this level. He was the clubs top scorer last season scoring 11 goals.
No team rescued fewer points from a losing position in league One, so if the Spireites can score first, their players heads might drop and their fans might get on the teams back. The Spireites still on a high after being crowned League 2 Champions, will be looking to take the game to Tranmere. Randall will be looking to try and control the Midfield and create chances for his team mates, as he makes his debut for the club.
I am a blogger for the Derbyshire Times living in Chesterfield. I like to write about the Spireites, whom i follow Home and Away. I will be writing on here, about the season ahead, Match previews, Reports...
