Opening hours: Monday - Friday: 9am - 7pm and Saturday: 9am - 4pm. There is a public lift. Toilets and refreshment facilities are available in the library cafeteria. All facets of the county's rich history are represented including history, topography, geography, transport and natural history. Interested in your family history? We have a special collection of the many helpful guides to family history research. The range of materials includes books, pamphlets, periodicals, newspapers, newscuttings and maps. We also have photographs, slides and prints, videos, music on CD, CD Roms and microforms. Access to the content of the material is made easy through excellent subject, place and personal name indexes to the collection. Most of the collection is for reference use only. Even so, many older standard works and newly published titles are available here to borrow. There are good collections of local videos and music CDs available for loan.
