Keep the treats for the Trick-or-treaters. - Chocolate in all forms can be very dangerous for cats and dogs. Make sure to keep the candy bowl out of reach of your pets.
Don't dress if it causes stress. - Don't put your dog or cat in a costume unless you know they love it. Wearing a costume can cause undue stress.
Practice Safe Costuming. - If your companion does enjoy dress up, ensure that their costume is safe and restrictive, and does not contain dangly of easily chewed off pieces that they could choke on.
Be mindful of decor hazards. - Keep cords, wires and pumpkins with lit candles away from your pet. They could suffer cuts, burns, or electrical shock.
Beware of Escape Artists. - When opening the door for trick-or-treaters, be mindful of dogs and cats trying to escape. Ensure they have proper ID in case they do get out. Better still, during busy periods, lock your pet in another room.
Keep your pets safe this Halloween and have a faBOOlous day!
