Christmas is over and New Year is fast approaching... the turkey has been eaten and turned into sandwiches, curry etc and the tins of Quality Street and Heroes have been annihilated. You probably have chunks of half-eaten cheese, slivers of pate and copious boxes and bags of opened biscuits, crisps, crackers and nuts, all of which must be eaten before you go back to work (because it's the rule, isn't it?)
So the likelihood is that the suit is going to be that little bit more 'snug' on January 2nd. Do you dare brave the gym? Get on those trainers and get jogging?
Or does the idea of exercise make you want to grab that tin of Celebrations and eat for dear life?
If you need a little motivation to get active in 2013, thebestof Colchester has the perfect incentive – Headway Essex is appealing for all potential superheroes to run a 5k or 10k charity fun run on May 19th 2013. The London Super Hero Run will be taking place in London's Regent's Park, with more than 1,000 people expected to attend, dressed as their favourite superhero and running in aid of their chosen charity.
You don't need to be an actual superhero to take part (as in Mo Farrah or Paula Radcliffe) – just a little training is need to be able to either walk, jog or run. The spirit of the event is 'taking part', not winning so you can take it as slowly or quickly as you want.
To register your interest in running the London Super Hero Run in aid of Headway Essex, please email fundraising@headwayessex.org.uk, or call Joanne Hockey on 01206 547 616.
