Halloween Never Got Scarier in Corby!
On October 31st, we again 'celebrate' Halloween in Corby, thought to be the one night of the year when ghosts, witches, and other scary creatures (often referred to as 'parents') all go hyperactive!
Well this year, it seems it will be scarier than ever - in fact the screaming all seems to be starting on Friday 28th October and carries on through the week-end to Monday night.
And I'm not only talking about young kids with a bit of face paint threatening some dastardly deed unless you give them some sweets. I can cope with that (unless they threaten to tickle me and then I give in). I'm talking real scary looking people (a bit like my old boss) who scare the c--p out of you, especially when they try to dance!
If it all gets too scary for you, find a bell to ring. Apparently the sound scares evil spirits away!
I've picked 2 party venues for ADULTS (you kids can find your own parties!), but there are plenty more.
Friday 28th October - Best Western Rockingham Forest Hotel, Rockingham Road, Corby - an adults (over 18s) Halloween party with fancy dress optional but highly recommended (unless you naturally look the part!). Starts at 8.00pm. Tickets £5 in advance or £6 on the night with prizes and raffle. All proceeds for the night to be donated to Lakelands Hospice. Click here for more info.
Saturday 29th October - Corby Rugby Club, Rockingham Road, Corby, a super scary night threatens with fancy dress theme "Rocky Horror Show". Starts at 7.30pm. Entry is FREE - all welcome, and to add spice to the evening, the very popular Stolen Mojo band are playing, so watch out for those scary dancers! This won't be for the faint hearted! Here are a few bloodcurdling thoughts to get you in the mood:
- Watch out for spiders on the night - they are probably the spirits of dead loved ones watching over you!
- Ladies, it is said that if you look into a mirror on Halloween night while combing your hair (or eating an apple?), your future husband will appear in the background! Wow, it beats speed dating!
And don't forget, if you want to meet a witch on Halloween night, (and why wouldn't you!) all you have to do is put your clothes on back to front and walk backwards. It works every time!
Have a terrifying weekend!
