It's that 'Spooky' time of year again when kids think it's great fun to scare the 's#@#$t' out of us!!
I'm sure my daughter was practising hard last night, but she insisted "I haven't put my mask on yet Daddy!'
As usual, Corby is getting prepared to be invaded by the ghosts of old. Personally, I blame the Celts all those years ago who celebrated 'Samhain', when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth every October 31st for a good old knees up! (They must have had good calendars in those days).
In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, and probably a bit of raping and pillaging thrown in, Celts thought that the presence of the 'otherworldly spirits' made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future! So they welcomed them back!
Well how daft were they? They've been coming back in some form or another trick or treating us every year since! Never mind being scared wittless, just think what all those treats have cost us!
But I have a cunning plan..... This year ...Go out! (ie don't be in when they call! - Humbug Sir!!)
Instead, go to East Carlton Park, and go on the scariest walk ever!
It's the best place to see ghosts, ghouls and to witness your children being terrified!!
East Carlton Park, East Carlton, Nr Corby LE16 8YF
Wed 31st October (obviously!) from 6pm - 10pm.
If you haven't been on this walk before, you are obviously a woos and far too scared!
This is where the ghosts and ghouls invite you (that need it!) to dress up and join them on the spookiest of walks around the Country Park. Great entertainment and highly recommended for all the family.
