Chris Bridgman was delighted to be nominated as an Olympic Torchbearer in recognition of his unstinting work to support and promote the Wingate Centre in Wrenbury.

Chris was nominated by Steven and Rachel Barratt from Burland Stores, Nantwich who felt that he was one of their unsung hero’s. Steve said ‘When the Coca Cola nomination forms arrived in the Store we immediately thought of Chris as a worth candidate for the honour.’

The Wingate Special Children’s Trust, based in Wrenbury, provide gymnastics training to local children and adults with disabilities and are also the foremost children’s respite holiday centre in the UK.  During a season over one thousand children with multiple disabilities will visit the centre for a residential break.

Chris will be running in Bloxwich in the Midlands on Saturday 30th June and is hoping friends and family will be there to support him.

Chris said

‘I was absolutely stunned when Coca Cola contacted me and said I had been chosen. I have always taken every opportunity to promote the Wingate Centre because I see on a day by day basis just how much enjoyment and benefit the children get from attending the Centre. This is a rare honour to represent my country and will be something I can tell my grandchildren about in the future’
