Known for its 40 years of care and innovation, charitable organisation, St Christopher’s Hospice near Croydon, exists to provide skilled and compassionate care of the highest quality.

St Christopher’s Hospice, situated near Croydon, care for terminally ill patients and their families, and since being founded in 1967, our influence has reached across the globe.

St Christopher's is widely recognised as the pioneer of the modern hospice movement and has earned a reputation for excellence in clinical practice, research and education.

We realise that when someone is very ill, it is not just them that is affected – their loved ones will also have to deal with the symptoms and effects of their illness. 

Our care extends far beyond the treatment of physical symptoms of the patient – we also consider the supportive, emotional, psychological, spiritual and social needs of the patient, their spouses, children, friends and carers.

Caring for approximately 2,000 patients and their families each year, generally from the Croydon and South East London community, most of our patients have cancer, motor neurone disease, severe heart failure or chest disease.

Every single one of our services to both patients and families are free of charge.

As a registered charity, St Christopher’s Hospice near Croydon is constantly raising funds and relying on donation, with only approximately one third of funding coming from the National Health Service. 

The remaining balance is raised from grants, legacies, generous donation and the Hospice’s charity shops. 

St Christopher’s Hospice relies on donation in order to continue its essential care for dying people and those close to them.
