A luxury car at a lower price and long equipment list is what Acura ILX is. It is the entry-level luxury sedan from the house of Acura which by the Acura standards falls way behind all of its cars. It sports a 2.4-liter powerhouse mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The 2018 Acura ILX Sedan isn’t what you’d expect it to be. Priced at a mere $28,100, the car lacks in performance, interior finish, and a comfortable ride. It was also called as the luxury variant of the Honda Civic sedan.
Below is the brief review of the Acura ILX but before that, let’s get to know the positives and negatives of the car.

What’s new?
The 2018 Acura ILX had only 6 trims before 2018 but with the newest inclusion in the lineup, you get a total of 7 trims to choose from. These trims are name named – base, Special Edition, Acura Watch Plus, Premium, Premium A-Spec, Tech, and Tech A-Spec. The base trim of ILX starts at $28,100 which comes equipped with features like heated front seats, a rear-view camera, and 17-inch wheels.
The top-level trim of the ILX is called Tech A-Spec which is available at $35,100 and is the most heavily equipped Acura ILX getting a sporty touch inside.
All these trims get a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine which is rated to produce 201 hp and a torque of 181 lb.-ft. an 8-speed automatic stick is standard across the line-up. ILX might be everything but is surely not a performer as the engine isn’t rev-happy and even if you hit the paddle to the metal, disappointment is all you get.Acura ILX is a fuel-efficient sedan and delivers 23 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
The ride in the city is comfortable and the car can tackle small potholes with ease. But problem occurs over a much bumpy surface as the suspension setup is tuned on the stiffer side. Steering is well weighted and you get nice feedback too but again, the enthusiasts will feel otherwise.
It is a 5-seater car but seating 3 in the rear can be a problem because of lower shoulder room availability. The seats are comfortable and well-padded but lacks the lateral support which might cause problems over long journeys. You get a dual-screen infotainment system which can be tricky to use for the driver. The cabin space is quite airy, spacious, and you get good outside visibility too.
However, the interior materials lack the luxury and there’s some hard plastic here and there in the car.
On the outside, the Acura ILX carries the similar design to that of Acura’s bigger sedans TLX and RLX. The front looks aggressive with LED DRL’s and the signature Acura grille. Its 17-inch alloy wheels give it a rather sporty look otherwise the car is pretty bland on the side. The chassis is sturdy and the build quality is world-class. Chassis consists of 59% of high strength steel making it a bit heavier but stronger.
The 2018 Acura ILX has received 5-star overall safety ratings from NHTSA out of 5 which is extremely good on the safety front. It gets features like Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control to enhance the safety of the passengers.
Overall, the 2018 Acura ILX isn’t a performance oriented sedan and lacks the luxury of the Acura cars, but at its price, it is the most affordable sedan with impressive features and high-end safety features. It has good handling and is comfortable for driving in the city. However, a little bit of power improvements can surely lure more customers.
