Croydon Ambassadors or Fashionistas?!

Bling bling – the ever-successful Croydon Ambassadors cut a rug last month joining Croydon’s Fashion Festival 2009. Ambassador nominees Maxine Lake, and Lucie Delicata of our very own Beach Glamour Ltd were involved and couldn’t praise the event enough.

'We have been so impressed with the 'all round package' that has been offered to us, from the workshops, personal advisors, marketing, publicity, not to mention supplying the models, choreographer, showcase specialist and finally to the amazing catwalk event. Being such a small, new company, we would not have had the opportunity for such a grand exposure for many years to come.  Hopefully the fantastic reception we received from the crowd will reflect in our business sales in the coming months, which is obviously our ultimate goal.'

The Croydon Fashion Festival 2009 was produced by the Croydon Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID), in partnership with key sponsors and supporters. It has clearly been an excellent opportunity for local businesses to raise their profile to be involved in such a well received event.

The finale came on Sunday 28 June in Whitgift Square, central Croydon, as the Croydon BID Community Day Show was enjoyed by a massive crowd.

There was a live performance by local girl band Diamond Chique followed by a lively dance performance by youth dance group Dance Mode

There were further live performances from other local acts in the Croydon Live Show, then the climax featured the Aspara Arts Group in full Bollywood glory.

It wasn’t all for-you-eyes-only though as there was plenty of opportunity for hands-on workshops, with Tramlink running T-shirt design workshops, in association with the Whitgift Weenies Club.

BID Manager Ros Morgan said of the event:
“Croydon Fashion Festival 2009 has been an unparalleled success. The free series of events attracted large numbers of shoppers to the Town Centre. Footfall was up by 20.9% on the average for 2009 so far and was the 3rd busiest week of the year to date. This is fantastic news for local business in a difficult financial climate. We’re very proud to have been able to put on such a good show and are looking forward to enjoying more success with the Croydon Food Festival which is coming up this autumn.”
