Croydon businesses to rebuild community ‘brick by brick’
Businesses across Croydon will come together in support of an event aimed at rebuilding the community and helping those who lost so much in the recent riots it was announced today.
The Brick by Brick event will take place on Thursday 15th September and all profits will be donated to the ‘Croydon Together’, the charity set up to help business owners and residents of Croydon affected by the riots.
The event, which will be run in association with dozens of local SMEs, will attract 100+ businesses and aims to raise over £5,000.
The main focus of the event itself will be on business networking for local entrepreneurs, providing opportunities for growth and new business. As part of the event there will also be a prize draw – at the time of writing Croydon businesses have already pledged over £5,000 worth of prizes and this keeps rising.
Maud Alleyne, Director of the Best of Croydon, is coordinating the event. She said, “Whether we work, live or play in Croydon, we have all been affected by the recent events – some have tragically lost their business and their homes. Our aim is not just to raise funds for the charity, but to also show the rest of world how amazing the Croydon business community really is. SMEs supporting and looking after each other.
We have been overwhelmed by the standard and the amount of prizes that local companies have already donated and it clearly reflects the value and high regard these organisations have for the rest of the community.”
The money raised on the day will go toward the important task ahead of us. That is the rebuilding of businesses themselves but also restoring confidence in shoppers and investors and showing that Croydon, with all it has to offer, really is a fantastic place to be.
