According to research, things are looking up for businesses in South London.

The Croydon Guardian this week reports that a survey from Business Pulse 2009, commissioned by BT, heralds a new-found confidence in their prospects for next year.

The research results have been released to coincide with the launch of Small Business Week (SBW) show that businesses in the capital face an upturn in trade next year.

With names like Peter Jones from TV's Dragon's Den, and Lord Digby Jones, former Director General of the Confederation of British Industry at the launch of Small Business Week in central London on Monday, it's easy to add credence to this confidence.

Peter Jones is quoted as saying the economy is recovering well after "bottoming out" in May, and spoke of the optimism small businesses should share about climbing out of the recession.

The survey also highlighted the importance of keeping up to speed with technology in order to reduce costs and increase efficiency - it's an essential way to improve competitiveness.

There are a number of events, conferences and seminars on throughout London and the South East - check out sbw09.co.uk for more information.
