Croydon Heritage Festival is a fortnight long celebration of Croydon’s rich and vibrant past, present and future. It's about appreciating where we've come from and embracing all that's ahead of us.
From Saturday 21 June to Friday 4 July join the community for a programme of events and activities, all designed to explore Croydon’s fascinating heritage and culture. And even better still, many of these fabulous events are free!
The festival promises to be a truly community orientated event suitable for all ages. Organised by The Whitgift Foundation, a 400 year old education and care charity and in conjunction with a host of local people and organisations, there are so many different entertaining and fun activities to get involved in.
It's a blast from the past with tours of Croydon’s landmark buildings and talks on all aspects of Croydon’s heritage, not to mention a dedicated exhibition at Fairfield Halls, interactive debates, arts and crafts, live performances, competitions - and don't forget themedieval pageant! Phew!
And looking to the future with the upcoming major redevelopment of the Whitgift Shopping Centre, vibrant and dynamic areas from Broad Green to South End and Old Town, exciting initiatives such as Croydon Tech City moving us to the next generation, it looks like it's exciting times ahead too. Seize the day and find out about what Croydon’s heritage has to offer.
The festival launches on Saturday 21 June with Croydon Heritage Day by transforming Croydon’s town centre into a showcase of free heritage themed activities. Make sure you head over to North End from 11am - 4pm where you can be in the thick of it with live music, performances, stalls, tours of historic Croydon and more.
So, take a peek at the schedule of events and start planning your festival fortnight today!
