People are becoming more health conscious and making better lifestyle choices every day. More people are choosing a vegan lifestyle, reducing the consumption of fatty food, hitting the gym regularly and engaging in meditation to keep common diseases at bay. Studies show that people who suffer from high levels of stress and fatigue are at higher risks of coronary diseases and diabetes. The same group is also more susceptible to different types of cancer.
Mobile phones and increased risk of cancer
A very recent study by California Department of Health revealed a strong connection between the prolonged use of mobile phones and tumorigenesis. People who are likely to sleep with their mobile phones next to them are at higher risk of developing cancer. Tests have revealed that the radiation from mobile phones is enough to cause mutation in cells and cause different kinds of tumors that can develop to cancer. ELISA uses specific protein markers to detect the presence of antibodies (against aberrant cancer proteins) in the body. Therefore it is one of the better techniques to determine ovarian cancers, breast cancers, and skin cancer.
Skin
Another study shows that people who use tanning beds and visit the beach often are at higher risks of squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. The repetitive exposure of skin to UV radiation can lead to squamous cell cancer. Although it is one of the most common types of skin cancer in the USA, it is usually treatable and curable in the early stages. Melanoma is the cancer of the melanocytes, and this kind of skin cancer is often more challenging to treat.
Lung
Smoking, constant exposure to pollutants and inhalation of asbestos can lead to lung tumors and lung cancer. The sheer variety of this disease and the variation of progression can make lung cancer hard to treat. People who smoke on a regular basis are exposing their lung cells to many chemical carcinogens. It can lead to squamous cell carcinoma, small cell lung cancer, large cell lung cancer and adenocarcinoma.
Liver and pancreas
Continuous alcohol abuse often challenges liver and pancreas functions. It puts people at a higher risk of liver cancer and pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer can also be genetic or familial. The latter is most difficult to treat, but early diagnosis comes with better prognosis.
Large intestine
People suffering from familial adenomatous polyposis usually develop thousands of polyps in the large intestines. With age, these polyps typically turn cancerous. This type of cancer affects the large intestine and the colon. This disease usually begins without any external triggers.
Ovarian and breast
Ovarian cancers and breast cancers usually rise form specific mutations. These mutations can be spontaneous, or they can be inheritable. Smoking, drinking, HPV infections and herpes infections typically increase the risk of ovarian cancers. Obesity, lack of exercise, hormone therapies, tobacco, and alcohol can increase the chances of occurrence of breast cancer. Interestingly, even men can get breast cancer, although it is rare.
There is no way to surely say that not engaging in specific practices and leading a disciplined life is a guarantee of a cancer-free life. However, healthy practices often reduce the risks of contracting serious illnesses and prevent genetic stress that can ultimately diminish the chances of getting cancer.
