When I began a search to replace my existing Mercedes Benz 4x4 I had in my mind a used Mercedes model and year of manufacture that I really wanted but felt I could never realistically find.
As most people do I started searching on the Autotrader website and to my amazement I actually found the car that matched my specific requirements. If you take into account that I meticulously looked after my own vehicle then finding a used specimen that was one owner from new, full service history, relatively low mileage and clean inside and out was going to be a challenge.
First thing that came into my mind that this is too good to be true and assuming that a “small” dealer which I had never heard of was selling it there has to be a catch. I first went onto to HPI check the car even before contacting the dealer – it was OK! Then I phoned the dealer to obtain further information and I spoke to Terry who was very helpful. I still felt at this time that something has to be wrong with car. Then I made plunge to travel and see the car – I was still apprehensive even at this time.
When I reached the Showroom I was met by James McCarthy who showed me the vehicle and allowed me to test drive the car. After meeting James and his team I was confident that the car was as stated in writing. Thereafter, the buying process was a joy and I am happy say that small businesses can still thrive in an age when bigger businesses endeavour to muscle out the small companies. The reason why McCarthy Cars are successful is simple – personalised, knowledgeable, efficient service.

Excellent customer care, car was well presented and all our questions answered prior to purchase. We had to wait until the car was checked out, but it was well worth the wait as it had a service and MOT then the motor on the sunroof was replaced. All in all a very pleasant experience and not the usual hassle associated with a car purchase.

After a lot of looking about all over and receiving typical car salesmanship feedback (which is shocking as they sell you everything and when you point out the rust they run away) I went to McCarthy, purely based on their feedback. I can honestly say that 5 months after having my car, I havent come across such professionalism and call it a 'caring' customer service in any sector.
The team have gone well beyond their duties to ensure I am satisfied and will come back, be it from phone calls to check if everything is ok, to arranging alternative mechanics (approved by them of course) to fix problems due to them having staff shortages, to loan cars - these guys are exceptional.
Given that the journey takes 2 hours round trip, I am not making this recommendation lightly
