Rippledown is primarily a school visit centre hosting over 1200 children each year situated on the Deal Dover road just a short drive from Sandwich. The children who visit Rippledown environmental and conservation Centre, share the experience of living together in our superb group accommodation, have responsibility for organising themselves and looking after others, and our outdoor education facilities enable them to learn outside of the classroom.
Schools and organisations book annual residential visits or day trips with us here at Rippledown environmental and conservation Centre. They choose from modules that are adapted to meet the curriculum requirements of key stages 2-5.
Since opening in 1977, Rippledown environmental and conservation Centre, has welcomed over 40,000 young primary school children on school trips and educational holidays from all parts of South East Kent. We continue to give a young child the opportunity to engage with the natural world, whilst also for many providing them with their first experience of being away from home.
Learning through experiencing the outdoors - through awakening all five senses - can provide a child with both a profound, fun-filled experience - something many of Rippledown's alumni (some now in the early 50's!) can testify to. The natural environment helps pupils of all ages to make sense of the world around in a manner that is simply not possible within the conventional classroom setting.
Rippledown environmental and conservation Centre is very much a community focused organisation, providing a fun place for schools, scouts, family gatherings, reunions, adult courses and holiday clubs in the summer.
Rippledown is also a fabulous venue to hire for self catering groups, be it your own family gathering or your local church group, for golf or walkers, cyclists or retreats.
