Fantastic Tudor artillery castle. Good old Henry VIII had it built to defend against the French, who never came, of course. Great family visit with keep, spooky dungeons and battlements looking out to sea. Closed, alas, October to March except for special events so check before you visit. (Great venue for a party and can be hired at surprisingly modest rates, we're told!)
