Five Care UK homes in the area will be bringing Paris to County Durham as they open their doors to local people to enjoy their own version of the Games.
The events come as the homes join The Big Care UK Sports Day, which sees over 130 Care UK homes across the UK host sports days for the local community and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Across County Durham, events will be held at:
- Hadrian Park, on Marsh House Avenue, Billingham on Wednesday 24th July, from 2pm-4pm
- Ventress Hall, on Trinity Road, Darlington on Wednesday 24th July, from 11am-5pm
- King’s Court, on Market Place, Barnard Castle on Wednesday 24th July, from 1.30pm-5pm
- Church View, on Church Lane, Seaham, is hosting a week of events from Monday 22nd July, culminating in a grand finale on Friday 26th July, from 10am-12pm
- Stanley Park, on Wear Road, Stanley on Monday 29th July, from 11am-3pm
Guests can soak up the sporting atmosphere and, for those daring to compete, have the chance to win their own gold medals with an afternoon of fun and games, including egg-and-spoon races, tugs of war and other Sports Day classics.
Visitors can also enjoy a range of summer refreshments, while tapping their toes to music throughout the day. At Ventress Hall, guests can savour a special selection of finger foods from around the world – all prepared by the home’s talented head chef.
