The Ealing Autumn Festival 2011 running in various locations from 15th-30th October has an intriguing request in their programme.
On Saturday 29th October after a performance of of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody presented by Gillian Spragg (including Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Victor Borge, remixes and the real thing), they are hoping to put on a performance of Poeme Symphonique for 100 Metronomes by 20th century Hungarian composer Ligeti.
So why not go along to the family friendly concert at 2pm in Ealing Town Hall with your own metronome and take part.
They need 100 metronomes so please email to let them know you are coming on info@ealingautumnfestival.co.uk
As an added incentive give your name and phone number and they will give you £1 to spend at the festival for every metronome you take along.
(For non-musicians a metronome is used when practicing to maintain a consistent tempo of steady regular beats). Footage of a similar event is shown on YouTube
