Learning to drive and worried that you'll be prepared for the new changes to the driving test introduced today?
Candidates taking their driving tests from October 4th 2010 will be asked to follow, for approximately 10 minutes, a route that they will be shown in advance. Alternatively, candidates may be asked to follow signs to a destination.
According to the DSA, the new-look test will better allow examiners to assess whether drivers are ready to drive unsupervised. Learners can still ask for reminders and will not be failed for getting lost.
The changes are aimed at ensuring all new drivers are able to drive safely and independently.
Good driving instructors have already been teaching independent driving to their pupils.
