BLF reports that funding by Public Health England for Smoking Cessation campaigns has gone down from £5 million to £3.8 million. They claim that one in five people is affected by lung disease, and that the campaigns had had a significant effect on the behaviour of smokers - which is now going to be limited by the cuts. There are still 6 million smokers in the UK, they say, and further cutting the number is still a government target - but how are they to hope for future success if PHE continues to cut budgets?
