Good parking and a pleasant tearoom at the Birling Gap and a good viewing place for the Seven Sisters. Its a National Trust car park and there are lovely snacks and cakes in the tearoom which is a good size and there is also a well stocked gift shop. You can also learn about the history of the Birling Gap in a display area where there are lots of interesting artefacts and information. There are old photos showing where the cliffs used to extend and how much erosion has taken place over the past 100 years. There is also a line running through the display area showing where the erosion will be in 20-30 years time. Very interesting.

We did the hike from Seaford to Eastbourne. We started from Seaford seafront, just after the Seaford Museum. You just need to walk along the coast side, where we see many signs showing the cliff edge. We shouldn’t go beyond the line as the part of the chalk cliff may fall due to erosion. We can actually see some visible cracks of the cliff. We first see the Seaford Head, and continue to Cuckmere Haven, which has few buildings beside a river. You have to cross the river. If we do not want to wet ourselves, we need to walk inward along the river to reach Exceat to cross the river using the road bridge. Some people start their hike from here since there is a public car park here. After crossing the river, we need to walk back to the coast along the bund beside the river. This detour will take 20-30 minutes. We will be walking on the Seven sisters now. It will be repetition of ascend and descend until we reach Birling Gap. There is car park and a Cafe here. There is access for us to get down to the beach to view the vertical chalk cliff of Seven Sisters. We took lunch here. Then we continue to Belle Tout Lighthouse. After this, we walked towards Beachy Head Lighthouse. Continue further, we reach Beachy Head and then we can see the Eastbourne town. The trail ends at a Cafe named The Kiosk. The whole hike took us 6 hours. It’s a pleasant hike, not too difficult except for long distance walking. This is however, well compensated by the scenic views along the way. This hike is strongly recommended if we are physically fit to walk for 5-7 hours.

Probably one of my favourite places in the world. Come anytime of the year, and in any weather and you will be in awe of the views and the countryside.

What a beautiful stretch of coastline and somewhere everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. The views are just awesome. We enjoyed a strenuous but enjoyable 32KM walk from Eastbourne along the Seven Sisters and back. There is a cafe at Birling Gap with toilets and a tap to refill water bottles. The queues were long for the loos. On a cold day it would be quite raw up there but we had sunshine and a light breeze which was perfect. If you plan to walk the Sisters, take walking poles as they are useful on the steeper parts.

Quick stop here before visiting Beachy head. Good viewing platform to take lovely pictures of the seven sisters.

Perfect place to experience breath-taking scenery and bracing clff walks. The visitors centre gave information about the history of the area and cliff erosion. There was also a cafe, which we didn't use, as we were staying at the nearby lighthouse.

Because of coach parties and the many walkers that frequent the restaurant run by the National Trust at Birling Gap, it becomes very crowded. This means queues for food and toilets which can be quite long. Cliff falls also mean room for expansion is reducing. Suggest coach parties be restricted or banned.

Definitely well worth a visit! Landscapes and white cliffs are amazing, especially if you take a walk from Eastbourne.
As for the daily bread, there is a very nice cafe and a charming souvenir shop ;)

Another overpriced National Trust place that should be free to all. Shop doesn't open until 11:00 (and it's usual N.T. tat) and the access to the beach was closed (""""Health & Safety""). Paths muddy and virtually no signage. Just let the British people experience our gorgeous coast without fencing it off and charging us for the privilege. Ridiculous!

It was windy, freezing, snowy, but glorious. It was well worth the effort to walk from Birling Gap to visit the Seven Sisters.

When visiting Beachy Head you should also take in a trip to Birling Gap, which is a lovely "beauty spot" about 4 miles to the west on the road towards Seaford. At Birling Gap there is ample car parking plus refreshment outlets and toilets. After parking up you can walk towards the White Cliffs and benefit from breathtaking views of the cliffs, the pebble beach and the coastline looking towards the vicinity of the Seven Sisters. The high White Cliffs here are quite daunting yet make spectacular views for photography. I believe that you will not be disappointed if you take in a visit to Birling Gap.

Spectacular ocean views not to mention the stunning views of the Seven Sisters. Walk along the clifftops or along the beach. The views are amazing either way.

We arrived an a very windy and cold day. Many were still walking the hills and certain all enjoyed the National Trust Centre and tea shop.

The NT car park had room (luckily) and we climbed down the steps onto a pebble beach with long views of white cliffs, a really nice place to relax and see the last bit of the UK before france.

I absolutely love this area of the UK and tend to walk from Eastbourne to the gap where the river meets the sea near Seaford, then back to Eastbourne. It's a long hard hike but the views are stunning. You pass Birling Gap which is a great stop point to take refreshments or use the facilities. I recently climbed Kilimanjaro and did the Three Peaks Challenge and while living in London this was a great place for me to go every weekend and train. It might not seem like much but doubling up on the hike really helped work the right muscles and build stamina. For those looking for something a little more relaxing you can just do part of the hike and there is a pub where you can enjoy lunch or drinks near Beachy Head.

I sat on the beach with the sun on my face, watching the waves roll in and listening to the shifting pebbles. Not many had ventured on to the beach, preferring to take in the views from the clifftops above. Everyone was well wrapped up as there was a bitterly cold wind blowing, but down on the beach you were sheltered from the wind, by the Chalk cliffs. I intend to return in the Summer, to fully enjoy the beach and recommend that you visit while you can, before coastal erosion takes away the chance!

Even if you just walk down onto the beach and look along at the cliffs in both directions, it's breathtaking. Get up close to the cliffs and see how they are eroding (which is what keeps them so white). And the National Trust tea shop is a great place for a breather afterwards – with a slice of Victoria sponge, of course.

Just dropped in there for a blustery sunny visit. The car park was rammed and they had closed one due to being very slippery umeaning that people where parking everywhere but the stewards were great and very helpful.
We didn’t walk up the cliff tops as I am a bit unsteady on my feet but ventured down the steps to the beach and cliff base. Was just awesome and worth every penny.
The beach is all cobbles and a bit difficult to walk on but well worth the effort.

We parked free of charge with our NT membership card. The car park is muddy and potholed, but the visitors centre is amazing. Tea rooms, a shop and the informative visitors centre is interactive and informative. The shingle beach is lovely with far reaching views across the sea and the white chalk cliffs.

This place provides access to the beach and cliffs (for walking) and lovely views. The visitors centre has some chastening exhibits demonstrating the speed of coastal erosion in this area.

What a spectacular place to go for some bracing winds and outstanding sea views during the winter months...You have to be careful when wandering around, but if you observe the signs, follow the paths then you’ll be fine. Well worth a visit, the car park is pretty big.
