A must-see in the south coast, breathtaking view, an amazing place to understand cliff erosion or just have a walk on fantastic coast. Birling Gap has a welcome center, an inn, information office, bus stop.

I live only a few miles away from this incredible landmark which gets it's fair share of visitors including ramblers and those seeking the beach at Birling Gap. The chalk cliffs are eroding at an alarming rate yet the ignorant amongst us still go to the edge to see what's below! It's only a question of time before someone goes over with a cliff fall. It's bad enough hearing of dogs that chase seagulls and go straight over. Be aware that the 'steps' leading down to the beach are about to be relocated and may be out of action for a couple of months. The Birling Gap Cafe/Hotel is still open and there is plenty of parking giving easy access.

This stretch of coastline is breathtaking in more ways than one - the views are superb, but the hills are quite steep! Takes some huffing and puffing to get over the Seven Sisters, but you're well rewarded by the nice ta shop (and beach access) at Birling Gap.

One of the cleanest beaches in the area. Ideal for children. Cafe and shop in car park and toilets.
You can get a hop on/ off bus from seafront in eastbourne.

We hiked from the Seven Sisters Parking Lot to Birling Gap and almost to Beachy Head past the light house. It became very windy and there was a lot of hiking up and down the hills so we turned around. We had to take 2 buses to get back to our car at the Seven Sisters lot.It was not a difficult hike, but there is a lot of up and down. All in all, a magnificent view!

I had a visit to Alrfiston Clergy house then to the Litlington White Horse Hill and ended up to the Birling gap. Huge car park, free for NT members. There are also usual facilities-shops, cafe, restaurant, public toilet, picnic area, etc. Lots of people around, but because of the space we don't feel overcrowded. That was amazing to go down and walk by the bottom of the cliffs, look up to their grandiosity, and feel their strength. Very good energy everywhere around, it is always enthralling when small human meets infinite Mother Nature.
Then to go up and have a lovely walk on the top of the cliffs and feel the spacious depth just few steps away, without any border or sign or fence, that was another great experience.
I could feel free myself and forget about traffic and noise, crowd and London! Endless space up and around, nature's voices, wind, fresh air. That is what I wished:)

I used to come to birling gap with my grandparents every Sunday as a child, come rain or shine! I recently went back to visit and it still has the same feel about it, freedom. on a beautiful sunny day we enjoyed the delights of the cliffs and pub.

This is in a national trust park so you will need to pay to park. There is a very adequate cafe for lunch, and a shop. The best part is the view of the Seven Sisters which you can do from the 'pier' which has steps to walk down to the beach. Great spot.

The view of the cliffs is well worth the visit. There is a viewing platform which also provides access to the beach. This gives good views of the Seven sisters and the cliffs and downs toward Beachy Head. Cafe is very good and worth a visit.

Well thought-out and appropriate for all ages, but another busy National Trust car park and cafe. It ticks all the boxes but is an absolute tourist hot spot and a nightmare to park at.

Stunning colours, beautiful smells & sounds, and a variety of easy walks for the adventurous or unadventurous. I really loved it. The drive up was gorgeous and if you're a National Trust member parking is free! So worth it to become a member of you want to see Stonehenge, a few old houses and some parks/shorelines.

A bit of a walk from the car park but well worth the incredible views of these amazing natural cliffs, you can vet right up to them from the beach but take care, the tide was out on our visit but it looks as if the sea came right up to the cliffs in places.

Great place to visit on a good day, unfortunately for us it was the windiest day ever so didn't spend as much time here as we would of liked. Lots of overseas students visiting though.

The National Trust are clearly investing in Birling Gap and we should be very appreciative of that. It is a gorgeous valley leading onto the white chalk cliffs, with a well maintained, metal and wood stairway leading down to the large pebble beach running along the foot of the Seven Sisters. Spectacular scenery is on offer, along with cliffs and rock pools. Disabled access from the car park to the cliff edge and views is fine but we don’t think that the stairway is negotiable.

The car park is free to NT members (you have to put your NT card into the parking ticket machine) but not expensive for everyone else. The toilets are well maintained.
The visitor centre is in what was the old wooden hotel and the exhibits explain really clearly that the sea is eroding the coastline at a ferocious pace. The visitor centre will have to be moved soon so make the most of it while we can!

Great fun top of an old bus 🚌 with commentary. Tickets last 24 hours so you can jump off and walk around the South Downs and explore the country park, sheep 🐑 centre and lighthouse and catch the bus back in a weekend.

We visited here on 11 September, an extremely blustery day, to view the Seven Sisters from the eastern side. This is a exceptional view point to see across the impressive landscape which is the Seven Sisters. We also visited the little museum on site which was interesting. Can highly recommend the lemon curd cake in the café, it was huge, very fresh and zesty.

This is our favourite place to come for a nice bracing walk along the cliffs with the most incredible and spectacular views. From Birling Gap you can walk either way - to Beachy Head or to the Cuckmere valley, both are equally lovely, and both have good pubs to eat at. Another good option is to get the Coast Hopper bus from Eastbourne to the Seven Sisters visitors centre and then walk to Seaford Head and into Seaford, or take a walk around the beautiful Cuckmere valley.

Berling Gap and the seven sisters are stunning . DONT go into the national trust cafe the prices and quality are criminal £3.25 small sausage roll , £4.10 for a cheese roll !! Pure greed . I know they have overheads but this is disgusting !!! Never again

Once you park at the Birling Gap car park it only take a few minutes to climb up to the top. From there you can walk for miles along the edge of the cliffs following the coastal path or you can use the stairs at Birling Gap and go to explore the beach.
The panoramic views of the white cliffs are spectacular.
Continue walking towards the Belle Tout Lighthouse which takes around 15 minutes and then you will reach Beachy Head from where you will be able to see the Beachy Head Lighthouse built in the water.
The seascapes and the views towards the rolling green hills all around are simply wonderful.
Please note it is windy on the top of the cliffs so dress with layers.
When you are done with your activities at Birling Gap, we recommend you to visit Seven Sisters Country Park for different views of the white cliffs.

The walk to the beach at Seven Sisters is beautiful but we have always ended up in the restaurant across the road to finish off the day there. This time they had changed their procedure and instead of just walking in and sitting down we had to wait to be shown a table. Gone is the seating inside the quaint old building so we were seated outside on what was a dreary day. Then after other people who had come in well after us were being served , we had to get up and ask them if we could order , so basically poor seating arrangements and very poor service (although the girl who eventually served us humbly apologised for taking so long) ...wont go there again which is a shame as we have in the past enjoyed many cream teas there.

We walk from Seaford to Eastbourne and stopped for lunch at Birling Gap. The cafe gets packed during lunchtime so I recommend you arrive early.
The walk its about 13 miles long and it's tough, hardly any flat terrain, but the views are so beautiful that makes well worth the effort.

Car parking is free to national trust members and on better days than when we visited would have been mor pleasant to admire the views. Coffee shop sells snacks and a variety of drinks including wine and beers. Quite a large number of tables inside and out. Appears popular as little choice left towards end of lunch period.
