Walked from Seaford to Eastbourne and had a well earned drink along with our packed lunch. Very busy but clean and tidy and kids activities going on

Pictures do not do it justice. It is stunningly beautiful. The massive cliffs are magnificent. Lots of rocky beach to explore. The cliffs change view as the time of day and weather change, casting different shadows and colors through out the day as the light changes. You have to see it with your own eyes. Photographers if you walk down the trail where the cottages are in the foreground you are sure to get some of the most iconic shots you've ever taken.

Drove to Birling Gap and we were rewarded with excellent views and a sense of the power of nature as evidence of cliff erosion is all too apparent!

Good bus service takes you to required spot -no need to take the car. Lovely views and although fairly busy pathways, still room for every one without feeling overcrowded-nice cafe for bite or cuppa before you catch the bus back. Well worth a trip on a sunny day.

Walked up to the lighthouse and enjoyed the views on a stormy windswept evening whilst a group of brave people had a barbecue down on the pebble beach. Very haunting and darkly beautiful. We came a second time on a sunny day when there were many other tourists enjoying the views and again we were impressed with the views and atmosphere although a little worried by how close to the cliff edge some people went. A must do trip whatever the weather if you are in the area... outstanding natural beauty.

This area is owned and managed by the National Trust, who have a good cafe, shop and museum/gallery in the old single-storey wooden hotel building. The tables along the cliff edge get occupied by 2-3 people when in fact they can seat 6-8 but people can be selfish. Don't be afraid of taking empty places when it's busy.

The cliffs at Birling are eroding faster than elsewhere and one terrace of old houses has already gone and another has lost half already.

The way down to the beach is a single tall staircase projecting out near the National Trust building and there is a constant stream of people going up and down. It's best to more along the shore a fair distance from the stairs but remember that loose stones frequently fall from the cliffs and occasionally there are larger rockfalls.

In spite of the warnings people still go right to the edge of the cliffs on the higher ground either side of the Gap and that's an accident waiting to happen as there are many cracks hidden from sight within the chalk. A video clip can be viewed in the museum which shows an enormous rock fall bursting out from the face of a cliff nearby.

This is a nice spot which can be reached by car (there being a fairly large parking area but it can get muddy) or by the Eastbourne open-top bus tours.

Took my brother here for a visit , great views and nice restaurant. Museum was very interesting as it showed where the sea will be in the future and that the lovely building will no longer be there. Iron stairs take you down to the pebble beach. I'm not sure if it's an ideal place to swim you'd have to check on arrival. Nice interesting afternoon. Also a gift shop selling some lovely things although some on the expensive side.

I went on a Sunday in August and arriving at midday I found that the overflow car parks were pretty much full; the National Trust charge £4 to park for the entire day. There were also a lot of people parking along the road leading up to the Gap, so it is possible to find somewhere still.

It's very busy, with bus loads of tourists stopping off, so it's worth baring in mind that you aren't going to see the beauty of the Seven Sisters without somebody else in the photo! There is a cafe, shop and toilets (very long line for the ladies). If you head up the hill to the East, it's not too far a walk to the Belle Tout Lighthouse, with it's views of the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs.

From the cafe, you can use a stair platform to reach the beach below the cliffs. When the tide is out, some areas of sand are revealed, but for the most part, the beach is made up of stones, so well worth having some decent footwear.

It was again very busy in the area near to the steps, so I went further along the beach to the west. A couple of things to watch out for though are that as you go further along, when the tide comes in, it gets very close up to the cliff bottom. It doesn't come up so far that you would be in danger of getting stuck, but it does mean that it puts you under the cliffs, which obviously they do warn can have collapses from the erosion.

The other thing I found is that as you go further along the beach, a lot of the people are sunbathing nude. Nothing wrong with that if it's your thing, but obviously some people take offence to that kind of thing, so might want to stay closer to the steps.

Excellent place for a birthday walk, ignoring the chaplaincy car that drives up and down looking for jumpers.
Only thing I would say, is if you walk into Eastbourne and back, be prepared for steep return.

Visited on a really, really windy day. Exciting, but a little bit scary! However, absolutely loved the views of the sea, Seven Sisters, rockpools - the combination has something for everyone. As a keen photographer I particularly enjoyed it - but could also see how much the grandchildren would have fun clambering down the stairs to the beach, crunching the pebbles, exploring the rock pools, testing the waves (well, maybe) and definitely sampling the gorgeous ice cream in the cafe (and how do I know that??). Note: National Trust are repairing the steps from, I think, from October. Worth checking.

We took the sightseeing bus from Eastbourne to Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters and were glad we did as wouldn't have felt confident driving the slopes. From what I can see, there was good amounts of parking run by the National Trust. The Seven Sisters were breathtaking. The views were just a few steps from the car park and bus-stop. My mum with impaired mobility had a choice to sit at the cafe and enjoy the views while myself and husband and kids made our way down (the stairs) to the pebble beach below. We wished we had brought full beach gear -unfortunately we hadn't realised that the beach was so accessible! The water was gorgeous blue against the beautiful white cliffs. We spent a bit of time hunting chalk and drawing in the stones. We then decided to sit in the cafe for ice-cream - a spacious cafe and very accessible - unfortunately cleanliness was a little lacking. All in allabeautiful day out with unforgettable views.

Well worth a look if travelling near. Best to stay away from the cliff edge equally so the foot of them. The cliffs are crumbling. That said, they are impressive. Obviously pick nice weather and enjoy.

The facilities have improved immensely. There is a very good interactive museum come information centre as well as restaurant and shop. The views are breathtaking, you get a good view of the Seven Sisters, now eight! And on a clear day you can see the wind farm off the Brighton coast.
