This had always been a potential prime location to view & walk the 7 sisters. Now the National Trust has put in place more car parking & a decent cafe & visitors centre. Can get extremely busy midday but visit early or late & parking fine. Pay a fee if a non NT member.

We came on a rainy windy day but that didn't stop us enjoying the views and walk along the beach. Beautiful landscape to view, lots of rocks to climb. There seems to be a theme that people write messages on stones and place them in the rocks.

Very dramatic view, lovely interesting pebbly beach. You can spend hours looking through the flint and fossils. Lots of steps down so beware. Lovely cafe serving food cake and hit drinks.

Another place I could not believe I've not been to before, we had a beautiful day, could park easily, were grateful for our National Trust cards, as I didnt realise it was run by NT.

Drive or Bus to Birling Gap and walk the seven sisters cliffs through the Seven sisters park. Strenuousbut really rewarding and the views are outstanding. Then back to Birling gap for a rest on the beach or a cup of tea in the cafe. Then walk to Beachy head and back to complete the day, look over the edge of the cliff and see the lighthouses: Old and new. Experiences not to be missed.

We were last here Christmas 14/15 and the end house had collapsed down the cliff. Today you can clearly see how well the remaining gable wall has been repaired and weather proofed.

We only stayed long enough to take some photographs but the beach was busy with walkers and people picnicking. And I would have been happy to spend time there.

Plenty of room for parking and the cafe was bustling.

A great place to visit and see the white cliffs and there are regular sand patches in the shingle beach for comfortable sitting.

A lovely beach to watch the sunset. Quite often sheltered and is sandy when the tide is out. One of my favourite places in the world

This is a major stop off on every tourist route. Good viewpoint, with access to the shingle beach. Expect to pay for parking, which can get busy. Take the trouble to walk up the hill towards Beachy Head for even better views. ( In my opinion, the walk from Beachy Head to here is better that the reverse. Both ways take about 3 hours, although there's a bus that could help ypu out)

A short distance from East Dene is this parking area and beach scene. need to be fit to climb down to the shingle beach, and even fitter to climb back up.

Outstanding place to visit. Plenty of great walks and lots of history. Check the tide times as the water covers the beach.

Burlington Gap is a unique place to visit. We have been visiting this wonder of nature for 30+ years and have seen nature erode the gap bit by bit in dramatics chunks. There are a row of houses on one side that were built in such a way that you can see over time each house fall into the sea 50m below. Over the years we have witnessed 10 houses disappear (demolished before the inevitable end). On the opposite side there used to be a very busy pub with a cafe and big garden overlooking the sea. The garden disappeared fairly rapidly but the cafe is still surviving (just). The pub closed down and is now a Heritage centre. There is a very large free car park and a platform jutting out over cliff where you can see the effects of cliff erosion. It's a beautiful drive over the South Downs to get there passing the Light house which was physically moved back on rollers from the edge again because of erosion. Well worth a drive and a visit.

What a treat this area is. A quick drive out of Eastbourne and you are in the most beautiful, tranquil and scenic area. It's a wonderful sight and a fabulous walk. I highly recommend it.

We visited on a warm day and the walk along the beach with the Seven Sisters in front of us was stunning. The National Trust tearooms offer lovely cakes and a really good cup of tea with plenty of outside seating to enjoy the view.

This place was an unheard of gem for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were lucky that it was a bright, warm sunny day. The views of the water are absolutely spectacular.

I've attached some pictures.

If its raining, it will be absolutely useless.... If it's cloudy, you can still enjoy it but the water will not shimmer with a hundred shades of blue the way it does on a sunny day.

Keep a lot of time in hand. Take the stairs down to the beach, walk there for a bit, then come back up and hike up and down the rolling hills to catch better views of the water.

Spectacular place, cafe is NT run and parking free of NT members. We were unlucky with the weather, but on a sunny day this would have been an amazing place. The cafe is quite expensive, but you are a captive audience.

Birling gap is a beautiful spot near my home town Eastbourne. There are steps from here leading down to the beach below. Along the edge of the cliff are a row of cottages, these are no longer inhabited due to erosion of the cliff edge.sadly one by one these are falling into the sea below. There is a cafe here and the site is on a bus route. Beautiful spot to visit on a fine day

Don't just go to Birling Gap and see the beach, walk along to Beachy Head along the cliff tops. It takes a couple of hours or so and depends on the pace at which you walk but the view is great.

Parking at Birling Gap cost a mere £2.50 for 4 hours

Owned by National Trust, the building used to be a hotel , the guide showed us photos of what the rooms looked like when it was a hotel.one part was the shop which had some very nice items, and there is a cafe as well, the rest is a museum which was interesting there were white lines on the floor to show where the cliffs could fall by the year 2020.

A little out of the way but well worth a visit. The cafe has many tasty snacks and it's a welcome haven for those walking the seven sisters etc.

A great place to begin a walk over the cliffs. When we went it was really blowy and the waves were pretty impressive but for a short time it was great fun and worth coming too. Take a camera. The Nat Trust shop is quite a large one and has some interesting info for adults and children

The beach at Birling Gap is at the centre of the Seven Sisters. A good view of them can had from the top of the steps to the beach. There are also good walks on the cliffs either side but don't go close than 15 metres of the edge because there are often cliff falls. The best views are found by heading East towards the old lighthouse Belle Toute.

The beach is shingle and flint at high tide and sandy at low tide between the two reefs. It is good for swimming at high tide and low tide at mid-tide you have to watch out for rocks - the wearing booties is advised. On spring tides, you can go prawning in the gullies to the left. The beach faces south west and does pick up swells to give surfable waves (the entry point is in front of the steps where the rip goes out).
The waves pick up on the reef to the left and is best about 2 hours after high tide. For surf conditions see magicseaweed.com.

For swimming, it is best on calm days or when there are light easterly winds.

Care should be taken walking along the beach in winter/spring because of cliff falls.

It is possible to walk to Cuckmere Haven along the shore at low tide but it takes much longer than it looks and there is a danger of being cut off by the tide so it is not advisable to do this unless you are very familiar with the tides.
