A National Trust site within easy walking distance of Beachy Head and other cliff top walk. Watch the horses cantering on the hills or take in the magnificent white cliffs from the viewing platform.

Birling gap has to be experienced by anyone wanting to watch hi-speed geology at work! The cliffs are collapsing at a fast rate, and gradually has cut a long row of cottages and gardens down to about the last four. There is a very good cafe (dogs welcome inside!) which overlooks the bay and the sea, and is run by the National Trust, but how long it will be there for is anyone's guess. There is a sturdy platform and stairs down to the beach (but think about the coming up again if you have pulmonary problems!

A little bay on the South Coast that perfectly shows the power of the sea when it comes up against a seemingly immoveable cliff. The visitors centre has a great little museum showing the history of the bay and the steady erosion of the land by the sea. Photos of the coast line over the years and the row of houses that has been whittled away by the falling cliff face. There is a tea room and shop both run by the National Trust but the only charge is for parking unless you are a member.

Always love this location especially when the wind's blowing! Grab a hot drink in the cafe before it falls into the sea. Some nice walks start here.

Had not been to Birling Gap for quite a few years and was surprised at the changes. This is now a National Trust site and all the better for it. A reasonably priced car park, a clean and well stocked cafeteria with a separate section inside for dog visitors, an interesting information centre, pleasant gift and souvenir shop and very clean and modern WC facilities.
Access to the beach is down a stairway construction, sadly not for the disabled, but for those able to get down to the beach the views are amazing and if you have dogs they will love it.
Go on a nice sunny day and if its Winter wrap up, well worth a few hours visit.

A good walk to the shore. Safe for children on bicycles and dogs etc.
A lovely walk on a summers day and a refreshing walk that will blow away the cobwebs any other time of the year.
The end view is worth the walk.

Nicely situated as an end or starting point to walk to Eastbourne or Cuckmere along the cliff edge. Great views if you do. The beach is stony and rocky but worth checking out at low tide. In the lambing or sheep shearing season the sheep centre is close by. Nice cafe and gift shop, the cafe is dog friendly with a decent range of snacks and drinks. Nice part of the UK or world really.

Took a visiting friend on a trip to the coast on a bright but hazy day. It is great for walking and gets you out of the urban atmosphere for a while. Stunning views and trails along the Seven Sisters and towards Beachy Head. Sadly the tide was in so we didn't get out from the beach onto the foreshore. However, nature at its best and good exercise for body and soul.
The Café is typically basic but decent enough and sitting on the terrace outside on the clifftop with a pot of tea and a scone in the sunshine is a welcome change. NT free parking but reasonable charges otherwise. If we lived nearer it would be a regular.

The cliff edge may be getting closer but it's a great place to stop and have a drink or bite to eat with your four legged friend. You can take dogs into the conservatory which is great on a chilly winters day. The food is excellent too especially the soup. The staff are very helpful and friendly . It's a beautiful place overlooking the sea.

the rolling cliff side looks deceptively gentle but the view from the top of every incline is worth the effort. do walk down to the pebble beach too. post the walk at the Gap site, we drove to Brighton along the costal road; worth pulling over where ever one sees a sign showing 'cliff view'. we did so twice along the way and am glad we did. lovely walkways most of the way. we were blessed with good weather and that made the trip even more fun.

Went on a bitterly cold day but worth the jaunt out. Particularly liked the steps going down as i have limited mobility so the staggered steps made it possible for me to go down at my own, rather slow , pace, without hindering anyone.Lovely views, hubby decided to go off on a wander, he got some really good photos of the cliffs. I pottered about on the large pebbled beach. Then back up to the Tea rooms to warm up.

Bypass the dreadful cafe and go straight down to the beach via the metal staircase. Great view up, of the eroding coast and the remaining houses scarily near to the edge....wonder how long before they go. Great views also along the rest of the cliffs. The beach itself is like a moonscape with the chalk...mesmerising. There is a small visitor centre which is vaguely interesting and the ubiquitous NT gift shop but the attraction lies in the beach itself. Great place.

A day out and a good walk. If u are ready to walk a long distance in refreshing breeze, go on! This is ur place. Not at all recommended for children who are not started to walk yet! It is a pebble beach.
Friends-families-pets> good place to enjoy! Even u can collect star fishes and other sea-collectibles from small rocks in beach!

My husband and I were thrilled with Birling Gap. We wanted to go to Beachy Head, but at this time of the year, there are only buses on Sundays. We did not feel cheated. Wonderful views! B.H could not be better than this!

Whether it's a bracing walk in February or a cheeky BBQ on the beach with some beers in the summer you can't go wrong!!! £1 to park for an hour, £2 for 4 hours... Can't remember more than that. You can swap your parking in the cafe and get the money back. Free for national trust members. A must !

A visit in a cold but sunny day - pay & display National Trust car park, iron steps to the pebbly beach. Good cafe with small amount of seating outside but plenty inside and the visitor centre was very informative - also had a small charity good quality second hand book area with suggested donations. Toilets and a National Trust Shop.

What was once a pub/resturant is now an information centre with historical artefacts and interests for children. This is owned and managed by the National Trust, who own and control much of the headland in the area and immediately adjacent, where there are houses rented from NT, except one that is one perilously near to the cliff. Over the last few decades houses have suffered destruction by the ferocity of the winds and waves which, in harness, have washed away the cliff. It's a tourist destination, but for those living here it is bad.
Also part of the complex houses a tea room, snacks and drinks available.

Can't beat a stroll on the beach here and the cafe is lovely these days. My six year old enjoyed the visitor centre. Am biased because I come from near here and (mis)spent a lot of my youth in these parts

A great visitors centre and lovely walking alone the cliffs. Walk away from the Seven Sisters for the best view of them. And learn in the visitors centre why there are now eight!

National Trust owned so you will need to pay to park unless a member. Good gift shop, small museum which tells the area's history and steps down to the beach. Here you can see the cliff erosion first hand and enjoy a magnificent view of the Seven Sisters. Well worth visiting before the cliff erosion takes out the next cottage on the cliff!

I was really lucky to have beautiful sunshine while I visited this place. The combination of the white cliffs, the white chalk rocks on the beach and the blue sea could be a treasure for nature and art lovers.
