We grabbed a quick, family meal in late evening. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed our food and, after a long day's travel, our couple of beers/wines. a good menu was available

I've eaten here once before for lunch. Again this time the staff were friendly and pleasant. Choice of food is good and portions are plentiful.

Had Sunday lunch today for mother-in-laws birthday.
Everyone's food was hot, well presented & excellent with a good selection of veg with the meals.Menu was ok but the selection off the special board catered for all tastes.
Young staff very polite & efficient. Would recommend and will come back again.
Worth booking a table in advance as it was very busy.

Here in Eastbourne for a two night weekend break. Checked the reviews before booking a table here. Great reviews. Lovely home cooked meal, good live entertainment and very friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Could do with something like this closer to home.

great pub near to the Pier and beach , good quality food nicely priced , Pub was heaving with people watching Rugby which was nice too see its not a quiet quaint one , cant fault it

We ate here on 18/11/2016 for evening meal, we ordered a platter to share, The food was well presented, came out quickly and tasted very good. We stayed and had a few drinks.
They had a live band on and the pub had a very nice friendly atmosphere.The bar staff were friendly and efficient.
We enjoyed our time in the pub so decided to come back for breakfast the following day.The food came out reasonably quickly and on the whole was very good.
However the Tomato sauce that was brought out was inedible.I have never had the misfortune of tasting any illuminous red goo as bad as this stuff in my life, it was disgusting. It had the consistency of watered down kids paint. and the colour like it had been made in a nuclear power plant.
Luckily they had HP Brown sauce.The rest of the breakfast was nice.
We spoke to the waitress about the sauce and she said she was going to tell the people in charge.We came back in the evening for a few beers and to watch the Footy and ended up staying the until late.
Again the bar staff were brilliant, even though the pub was quite busy they were quick , efficient and very friendly.I hope the boss appreciates the quality of there staff as we visited 3 other pubs in the vicinity and did not get good service.

Nipped in here for a pint early doors as my hotel was full of partying pensioners, saw the menu, saw the food being served and decided to eat here instead.
Beautiful food and well portioned and presented. Lovely warm pub. Staff and locals friendly. It gets boring working away but this pub more than makes up for it. Recommended.

Booked a table and was glad we did, Saturday night and the place was buzzing. Ordered at the bar and starters turned up, followed by mains without undue delay. The food was hot tasty, and the staff helpful and polite, asking if we needed anything else. Yes they were trying to promote business, but If they work for my money, I am happy to give it to them, other places should take note.

I never write reviews for anywhere but felt I needed too for this place! We were staying at the shoreview hotel literally seconds around the corner. We love a good pub and this has to be hands down one of the best. The staff were so welcoming to us and our children. Food was really really good too. It had a great family atmosphere and all the other patrons were just as friendly. Would 100% go back if we were ever in Eastbourne again.

This pub was truly a rare find. It's situated a 10 minute walk away from the main shopping area but ideally sited if you are staying at the Shore View. The pub has a perfect blend of local residents and holiday makers. It offers great entertainment and has a very comprehensive food selection which comes very well presented and along with the drinks which are very competitively priced. It will have my trade when I'm next visiting Eastbourne.

Went for a meal in the evening. A very good choice of food. A large specials board and another menu. My husband had a hot chicken curry special, and I opted for half a roast chicken with chips and salad, could have had it as a full roast or with new potatoes. Friendly staff

Went down for a weekend to do the Beachy Head Marathon. Stayed in a hotel next to The Crown & Anchor. It was a great pub with great food and beer. It was decorated for Halloween and the staff and customers were dressed up in costume. The atmosphere was fantastic. It certainly took my mind off the achey legs after the race.

I stopped here for a beer whilst in Eastbourne the bar area is clean and well presented the staff polite and helpful although the pint was expensive I will return next time I am in Eastbourne

A local pub welcoming strangers. Great menu, good range of drinks including tea and coffee. The decor is fresh and modern, and there s an open fire. There was no loud duke box or games machines in the lounge bar, there was however a pool table and dart board but we didn't venture in there. We had a sumptuous evening meal, but they also serve breakfast and lunch. Interestingly we were staying at the Shore View directly in front of the pub, so it was useful!

Visited Eastbourne for our Anniversary weekend . The Crown and Anchor is a detached pub right along the seafront a couple of minutes walk from the pier. We were welcomed with a smile by a member of the bar staff on the Friday night and realised what a lovely local atmosphere we were part of . It was Friday and a live 80's tribute group were playing so what a great sing along we had! We went back on the Saturday and had a lovely meal , great selection ; I opted for a prawn salad with warm (mmmm) crusty bread and my partner had burger with sweet potato fries which I sampled too and both meals were superb, we noticed the ribs being served to a table nearby and I must say they looked delicious . Different band on again tonight and again, very popular! This pub was awarded Pub of the year and you can see why. Looking foreward to returning and of course it's ribs for me next timeš

Here's a find. We were welcomed by the friendly (and efficient) Roz from behind the bar. The hand pulled Old Speckled Hen, on form and most satisfactory. We decided to eat and when we asked if we could have a quick meal at a table reserved for others later were advised that we could. We decided on burgers as we figured they would be a quick option and they turned out to be excellent, actually, not excellent, outstanding! we have travelled extensively throughout the United States and in fact lived there for a number of years.... this meal was BETTER than most of our experiences in the self-proclaimed burger capital of the world and was a credit to the meat supplier and the chef of this establishment. Try for yourself and see if you agree. Regrettably we were only in Eastbourne for the weekend so did not have chance to try other options from this menu or the specials board, but we heartily recommend this pub for good beer and great food. 9/10.
