Lovely relaxing dinner with friends. Staff were great and food delicious! Go for the locally sourced fish dishes, which were great and the staff will recommend one of their many great wines to compliment. Lobster tacos were very tasty indeed and not too messy!

We had a great night! Brilliant guidance from team with generous measures of some fab wines.
This was such a good experience i would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who likes a good wine and a mid-week treat.Meat & Cheese board helped break up the tasting and was lovely quality as usual.
In my wine haze i forgot the Las Bodegas Rep's name, however he delivered a very good and humorous dialogue for the evening. He and the team at Cru clearly know there stuff. As always we shall be back. Please do not miss this venue, go, go for dinner, Lunch, Charcuterie or just go for a glass of wine! Enjoy!

We booked Cru for my wife's 50th Birthday celebrating in May. We have visited Cru on a few occasions with friends and were impressed. Jordan and Hardy have developed a superb and unique venue which we have thoroughly enjoyed on each occasion hence why we decided to book for the Birthday evening.
Jordan and Hardy were having a rare night off but Erin and Sophie were absolutely brilliant on the night. Jordan's plans were implemented to the letter. The food was outstanding and the quality of the wines were second to none.
The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by every one of our 16 guest party!
Would highly recommend this fantastic venue for any occasion you are planning from a simple dinner for two to a group celebration!!
Absolutely fantastic place!! Tom B, Eastbourne

What a relief to find Cru Eastbourne on my annual visit to Eastbourne! A nicely chilled Albarino was a perfect accompaniment to the warm blue cheese and parsnip mousse! I would have gone for the 52-day sirloin steak if I had not had steak the night before. Next time!

Just dropped by for a drink, you really need to book for more than 2 people for food. Food looked like, wine was good. A better place to go for a drink.

The venue itself is small but nicely decorated and has a wonderful atmosphere.
The food is excellent and as I was there with a large party they staff coped tremendously with getting all the orders out quickly with little waiting for anyone. The biggest and most important thing about this venue is the staff.
Helpful, happy and very obliging and is a welcome change from some of the over friendly staff you get elsewhere. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic food, service, atmosphere. Certain wines over priced which is a shame.

The menu is very eclectic and a welcome choice for the customer.

Would highly recommend.

Tiny little place, set in a basement. The staff were young, friendly and efficient, making the whole place go with a swing. The food was good, but it was the wine that was the best, a huge list to pick from, you could go mad.

We needed somewhere to eat for a business dinner for a large number of people, but that still offered quality and good service. We contacted Cru and although they don't open on Wednesdays they offered to open to accommodate our group. Everyone was more than happy with their food and the professional and friendly service they received. There are also an excellent range of wines to choose from. We wouyld most definitely go there again and would recommend to others.

This small, beautifully decorated restaurant has a lovely vibrant atmosphere, freshly cooked tasty food and attentive staff.
The fried squid was just gorgeous, burger lovely and wine yummy.
Recommended but please don't tell anyone or I may not be able to get a table!

Nice welcoming atmosphere. It's small size makes it feel really cosy. Staff great, we were given plenty of time to choose and didn't feel rushed between courses. But have to say the overall winner for Cru is the amazing food. The steak and the duck were delicious. Accompanied by a huge choice of wine. Great place for a meal. Not the cheapest but worth every penny. We will definitely return.

Got round to eating at Cru at last and it was delicious. Best sirloin steak I've had in the UK and up there with some top end steak restaurants in the States. Burger was great and the pork belly was excellent. Everything well priced, the Steak was perhaps a few more quid then you would pay elsewhere but well worth it; head and shoulders above any other steak in town.
Great meal with definitely be back!!

Popped in originally for a glass of Bubbles or two....... Easy to miss if you don't live in the area.Knew about its existence but never tried any of the previous ventures at premises .As we always like to try a new eatery etc we decided on the spur of the moment to pop in.Was most impressed. We booked an early table to eat on a Friday evening in February. For mains we both had the Hake(or Halibut?) with extra sides of veg.All elements of the meal were not of the same heat ranging from warm to hot.We will visit again however. The Girls were very pleasant on all occasions but lacked wine knowledge but this is not London or Brighton so no major problem for us ,as we are fairly knowledgeble.A lovely atmosphere so will return and maybe try a sharing platter.Maybe a bit claustrophobic downstairs in the heat of summer.A few tables upstairs "Al Fresco".All in all had more positives than negatives.

I visited Cru recently with a group of friends. It is a good restaurant with pretty good food and a fantastic wine list. The staff were excellent. A couple of things let it down... the popularity of Cru means it gets very crowded and there is not a lot of room between tables. Also, the men's toilet is poor... one toilet for the whole restaurant which meant queueing and hoping (in my case in vain) that the gentleman who uses it before you is polite enough to clean after himself (I hear the ladies toilet is better).
Still, this is one of Eastbourne's better restaurants and I am likely to go again. They offer a good choice of menu and cater well for gluten free and other allergies.

Some of the nicest food in Eastbourne and owner very knowledgeable regarding the wine, Malbec was superb. Friendly staff and great atmosphere - buzzing!

This basement restaurant and wine bar is very good but tiny. You would be advised to book and, as they run sessions because they are small, you will only have a limited time slot.
That said, it is well worth the effort. The lunch and evening menus are quite restricted but the food is excellent. One criticism is that the 'wine by the glass' offering is very restricted. As a wine bar they should offer a much wider spread of better wines by the glass.

EAT HERE!
You will not regret choosing this place to Eat. The food is the best that you will get in Eastbourne (of this cuisine). The Menu is Small but perfectly formed. Dishes that are a Must: Starter - Short Rib, Main - Poussin
The wine that we picked was just beautiful, but i cant source it from anywhere else at the Moment - Monsieur Moustache (Bordeaux). This Red was so Lush. This isn't a Cheap Meal, but it is cheap for the quality you receive.
I have also eaten lunch here recently. My Friend and I had a Sandwich and shared some chips (we couldn't finish) The sandwiches are priced at £7.95(ish) but they are Huge and of amazing quality. The chips were good too and plentiful. We shared a carafe of the Gavi, you cant go wrong with this white.Do not be put off by the small size of the restaurant, just book ahead of time as it gets full quickly.
The staff on all occasions have been great and very welcoming.

We had an amazing evening at Cru.
This was our first visit, and we cannot wait to return. We all chose different dishes.
I chose to start, salt and black pepper squid, which was so tasty. For the main course I chose fillet of hake with a mussel and saffron veloute.
The portions were very generous, and it was a scintillating experience, and a delight for the tastebuds. The waiting staff were very attentive, but not obtrusive, and they all seemed extremely happy in their work, and were constantly smiling.
It was also great value, as the bill for 4 of us was £173, but this did include 3 bottles of Malbec wine.We sat by the bar area, which wasn't the best location, as it was rather awkward for the waiting staff, as they had to manoeuvre past a group of 3 guys, so it wasn't particularly easy for them.
It was also slightly noisy, so I recommend booking a table in the main restaurant. We did book very last minute, but that is my only criticism of this superb establishment.
We will definitely return very soon, as this is the 'best kept secret'.

Had a visit to Cru last night with friends from London, it was a very busy Saturday night. Great welcome with friendly attentive service. Superb food and wine selection. Definitely worth a visit, but do make a reservation in advance.
A table by the bar becomes quite chaotic so ask for one further through.

A recent discovery for me! I am always on the look out for 'the place' to eat and drink as my default venue to meet friends and clients! On arrival down to the basement I was greeted with a warm welcome, a Lowry picture on the right and a very contemporary wine bar, smart, clean and atmospheric! Great background music, excellent wines by the glass as well as bottle. Great accompanying nibbles were also superb! But the menu itself from cold platters to a well put together collection of great sounding combinations that were delicious in the eating! My partner had Salt & Black Pepper Squid with a glass of Prosecco. This was amazing! I had the Smoked Salmon with a glass of chilled Albarino! This was beautiful! To follow my partner had the Hake with mussels which was an ample portion and a delight. I had the aged sirloin steak (a specialty) which was perfectly cooked to my liking and full of flavour with a glass of the their house malbec which was delicious! For dessert my partner had the chocolate delice! OMG chocolate heaven with a glass of the sticky dessert wine (not my cup of tea but a good match) I had the pear bread and butter pudding! OMG again this was one of the best puddings I have ever had! I had a glass of trusted Sauternes with this! Perfect! So in summary the food and wine is superb here, but what stands it apart are the staff! So friendly, knowledgeable from the greeting through the journey of our meal to our departure! So good I have already booked a table of 4 for next Friday to take some friends there! Highly recommended!
