We visited Drusilla's on the 11.7.2013 and it was a day that will make lasting happy memories for us all. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately my 4yr old grandson was car sick once we got there and they went out their way to get clean clothes for him. He also has a fear of anything that flies near him, but the keeper of Lory Landing reassured him and he experienced feeding the birds with nectar. I personally can not thank you enough for making our visit to you such a amazing day. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Just come back from a really enjoyable day at drusillas , before we went in we stopped for lunch at a nearby mc Donalds , lunch is expensive at these type of places so we always take our own or get a take away .
Got a lovely free booklets for my daughter to fill in , nice that it's free and something to keep , had a lovely time looking at all the attractions and my daughter enjoyed feeding the exotic birds nectar for £1 , lovely play area , the pool was just great to end the day , I am a single mum and one of the staff a lovely lady watched over my baby son while I used the loos , very kind thank you , this is a lovely place I used to visit as a child back in the 80s , we will be returning , we took a day off school and hardly anyone about , would not like to visit during school hols .

My partner bought me a chance to be a zoo keeper for the day as a birthday present. I have to say it was the best birthday present ever !.
Julie who directed me through the day was just lovely and really easy to talk to. I fed the penguins, meerkats, beavers, mongoose etc and stroked and held snakes and lizards. I also did a bit of mucking out but was no different to cleaning up after dog, cats and children really.
I took lots of photographs and have some fantastic pictures to remember it by .I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, so much so ive asked to go again for my birthday next year.
Would recommend this to anyone of any age.
Thanks again Drusillas !

Having had a great day at the zoo, my appointment for my experience was at 3.30, my guest and I were taken to a private room by Sue Woodgate who is an expert on Tarantula spiders. Her knowledge of these beautiful creatures is incredible and we were so impressed with what she told us, and then came the experience of handling a Tarantula which for me was beyond anything I could imagine.

Took my Wife, Daughter and 3 year old Grandaughter. Easy to get to off the A27 and worth a visit to the teashops of Alfriston afterwards. Plenty of parking and seemed to be easy to get in although it was pretty quiet when we arrived. Food on a parwith most of these ttypes of attractions - generic but well cooked. There is a good "Zoo Route" which takes you past everything. It's good to be able to see some unusual animals quite close, bats, sloth, lorakeets and leemurs. The train ride is free , short but fun. There are lots of thingsto play on which are helpfully split into under 6 and over 6. My grandaughters favorites didn't include any animals except the talking crocodile! They had a few "Keepers for the day" which meant there was some interesting activity in the enclosures. We spent 6 hours there but could have stayed longer. Probably not such good value in poor weather as the entry prices aren't cheap.

This amusment park has just about everything a child could wish for! Its the sort of place you can spend the whole day at so you get your moneys worth. It caters for children of all ages so there is something for them all. Really worth a visit if you're in Eastbourne.

My son had a lovely birthday party with his friends and fed the penguins. All kids had a fantastic time looking at the animals and playing in the playground. Lovely day out in fantastic surroundings, would highly recommend.

My husband and 18 mnth old son had a lovely day out here, there was lots to see and do, plenty enough to keep you occupied for the whole day. The eating places were a reasonable price although lots of picnic areas for those who wish to self cater! You get to ride on Thomas too! There were lots of toilets and baby changing areas too for those with children. The admission price was reasonable for adults although children over 2 pay the same as the adult price which we thought was a little extreme. I think maybe this is something that needs reviewing!!! Overall we would visit again.

I visited Drusillas Park on 11th June 2013 with my neice who is just about to turn 2.
We had an amazing day despite the fact it was raining! I nearly didn't go as I thought it would be a bit of a waste of time as I wouldn't be able to spend much time on the outside play area or the lagoon. But we arrived at 11 and left at 3.30 and struggled to fit everything in!
The animals looked happy and well cared for, we spent ages watching the monkeys jumping around! I especially like all the interactive buttons and challenges as we went round. It made it more interesting for the kids, it also seemed to cater for all age groups (even the adults. I saw many dads doing the 'how fast can you run challenge!)
The staff were all so happy and friendly too. I got my cardigan all caught round the buggy wheels and couldn't free it, but the lady behind the desk was so helpful and went to find me a spare buggy to use for the day, which I couldn't have managed without! She couldn't have been more helpful.
I left with a happy (but very tired) niece. We will be definitely returning when the weather i nicer so we can do the things we didn't get to do.

This was a day I will never forget - I got to go in with animals you would only ever normally dream about. The zoo keeper for the day experience was amazing and I have already recommended it to everyone that know me. The value for money is excellent and the staff at Drusillas are good fun and very knowledgeable . I cannot recommend it more - thank you Drusillas for a birthday I will never forget!!!!

After a fab experience last year I visited drusillas with my 4 year old goddaughter for the second time on Thursday! Just as last time we both enjoyed every minute of the fun filled day, lots of baby animals to coo over along with a fantastic value lunch at the restaurant! I will certainly be visiting for a 3rd time next year as there is just so much to see and to do for both adults and kids. THANKYOU

Having always lived in East Sussex, we have visited Drusillas a few times at various stages in our lives. As the previous reviewer says, it is aimed at children, but still offers a very enjoyable day out for middle-aged and older folk, as long as you can tune out from the noisier youngsters! Do not be put off by the initially daunting admission prices: they are in fact very good value considering you can spend an entire day there, & remembering the astronomical costs involved in running this type of attraction. Ample parking on site; plenty of toilets; several cafes offering a good selection of fare (one licensed for alcohol); plus kiosks for ice creams, burgers etc. The animals are obviously very well cared-for in spacious, stimulating environments, with plenty of knowledgeable staff on hand, and regular feedings & talks. An exciting change since our previous visit is Lemur Land, where you can walk amongst Ringtailed & Black Lemurs, although - sensibly - you are not allowed to touch them. To be so close to a 7-week-old Black Lemur baby clinging to its Mum was a real privilege. Similarly in the Fruit Bat house, there is only a low railing, so that (if you're lucky) you can feel the air stir as they fly above your head. It is worth looking at the website which gives all the information you need, including dates of special events, tariffs and "price squeeze" options. We look forward very much to our next visit.

Drusillas park is a zoo and adventure playground aimed at under 15s.
There is excellent disabled access, some paths could be hard for self propelled wheelchairs but not many places inaccessible for wheelchairs. There are disabled toilets.
Be prepared to share this place with school children as it it very popular for school trips.
There is a cafe on site.
Drusillas park is part of the tesco clubcard rewards.

I took my niece on Wednesday to this zoo. She's 10 and had a fantastic time there. All the animals are really well kept and don't seem at all bored with where they are and the cages are well suited for the type of animal. People on here are complaining about the price but to me it is very fair! We forgot I use the discount provided on the website as you could only buy it for the next day onwards which was a little disappointing but was my own fault really! For £31 pounds I felt assured that these animals would be taken cared for properly and if you look at the larger zoos in the country e.g London zoo, they are massively overpriced at about 60-70 pounds to get in and the animals are shoved in very small enclosures with no where to go if they don't feel like being looked at. I would rather pay a bit more for a good enclosure for the animals like this place does rather than to line the pockets of the greedy zoo managers at other establishments! The only thing I have an issue with is for a very small jacket potato and cheese with a drink I had to pay over £6. It was basically the same price as the burger, chips and drink offer of around £6.50 where you get a lot more food. Maybe if they did a deal with this also as I'm sure potatoes are a lot cheaper than burgers and fries! But again if it is to keep this place doing a good job then it was worth it. Also the play areas are very extensive and my niece had a lot of fun on it. Although we would have had just as much fun if it wasn't there! The little zoolympic challenges were also a nice touch! Keep up the good work! It was a great day out!

Let me get this clear this is no dearer than chester zoo but in my opinion a 100 times better, we had a lovely day out last wednesday, my children loved the park and the animals and even I went on all the slides. We ate in the burger part and although abit expensive the portions are large and very nice. The animals looked really well cared for and the information and feeding talks were brilliant, we met an amazing lady sandy who was with the lemurs and she gave my 10 year old daughter some amazing advice on how to become a zoo keeper, this lady was one of the most positive people ive ever met in my life and her love of her job shone through. Also another lady lynda was also very informative and polite, we spent 7 hours here and it was worth every penny. We definetly will be coming back and all my friends and family up north want to come for a day out too.

The animals are excellent - there are explanations and interesting facts about all of them. The insects and spiders fascinate too. Even in poor weather it's a pleasant visit and I enjoyed it too - but in glorious sunshine it is fantastic.

The food offerings are OK - not great food but clean and adequate. Could improve the burgers and chips.

The adventure play areas are super - the kids can have loads of fun while the adults have a sit down and a breather.

Travelling is easy, parking ample, toilets are clean and nice and it is a really good day out.

My husband treated me to a Keeper for the Day for my recent 50th birthday. I have always loved animals and it has been a wish of mine for a long time to be a Zoo keeper for a day (or longer!). I had the most wonderful day. I spent time with the Meerkats (my favourite wild animal), cleaned out the Servals (a large cat), feed the penguins, fed the lemurs, capibara's and the Rainbow Lorikeets, as well as helping prepare the food for all of the above. I was also able to handle some exhibits that were not on show to the general public, including a pygmy hedgehog, rats and fat tailed gerbils (I now want one of these!).
I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves animals.

Although not the cheapest day out (what is these days) once we were in it proved to be a great day. I had paid for a penguin feeding experience for my partner which she loved. The keeper was very friendly and explained things very clearly. The kids were a bit bored by the animals after a bit but they are still young, but loved the play areas and Thomas. The food was good and the staff all very friendly.
After having visited a few parks and zoos my impression was a positive one, with the park looking fresh and clean. The animal enclosures were a good size and the conditions looked good. Lots of information on the animals helped my daughter enjoy things as she went along. My only small gripe was it could do with a few extra signs around the park to explain where certain areas are. Hardly the biggest complaint and I would recommend this to families with small children.

My rating for this attraction was made by consulting everyone so we got the whole family's views. We were a little taken aback by the cost of a family ticket for five (we arrived in three groups) given that the youngest in that group was 2. Only under 2s were given the discounted price.
The 6yr old loved everything but declared that the paddling/swimming area was her favourite. This was, she told us, because when she went under the water it was so cold! No accounting for taste! We never leave these places without faces being painted, so the two little girls were thrilled to be turned into princesses.
The animals were a big attraction. They liked the little animals, and were delighted to see the baby monkey. Apparently he was born on the day before the 6yr old's birthday in March.
The Screaming Machine was a hit for all of them. Screaming as loud as possible without being told off, is great for kids!
The 6, 8 & 10 year olds enjoyed the Zip wire and our oldest boy loved the Spider Mountain and having a go at 'Rock' climbing. We especially appreciated the patience and professionalism of the attendant there. He was perfect for this job and paid great attention to safety issues. He encouraged each child and praised them if they managed to reach the top and ring the bell.

The adults among us all thought Drusilla's was great. we were impressed by how well the grounds and landscaping was maintained. Everything was looking its best and we liked being able to sit down. We found it very relaxing, and this was in no small part due to the feeling of safety and the thoughtful way facilities were arranged. Having said that, the weather hasn't been great this year and the season is early. We were here on a rare warm sunny spring day. I wonder how it will look when it's been tested to destruction by the time August comes around. However, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on Bank Holiday Monday, and got just as much fun as the kids from watching their reaction to everything.
NB Whoever thought up the idea of the trumpeting elephant - where the children could press a button and get the elephant to emit an incredibly rude noise, deserves a special award!

Finally, Sir Topham Hat introduced himself to our children and they were thrilled to pose with him for a photograph after their trip in Thomas The Tank.

For our family group of three generations it was a great day out and we'll definitely come again.

Top praise to the polite and well mannered staff. We were all impressed by them. They are excellent with children and we watched as a lost little girl was cared for with real kindness.

In summary this is a tad expensive but it is very well maintained and the kids looooveeed it. At first for £48 for an adult and 2 children I thought this was very expensive. However, the zoo part is small but well "stocked". All animals were out and you got up close to a lot of them (feeding lorikeets, bats flying over your head). The zoo part took up a good 2 hours. Then the rest of the park is one massive adventure playground. This is very impressive and expansive and I was actually a bit jealous. Another 2 hours was easily used up here. Finished with a trip on the Thomas train and a run round the maze (which both seem out of place but were welcomed). We took a picnic and there the park provides places for picnics. Facilities are very good (toilets were spotless).
If this had been a tenner less it would get 5 stars but its still well worth a visit

Small improvements are made every year, and the park gives a reliably enjoyable day out for most ages. Reasonably well run and organised. The playground is very good and my 5 year old could be lost there for hours. The Explorers Cafe has seen an 'upgrade' recently. I hope they have the same cook/chef as the food was always good, hot and fresh.

I paid for my girlfriend to have a penguin feeding experience and it was brilliant, though my 3 year old daughter got very upset seeing her mum feeding them, and not being able to do it herself. A member of staff contacted me by phone to make the booking and was really, really helpful. All the staff on the day were superb and really polite and friendly. The kids play area is just excellent for small kids like my daughter and for older ones too. There are so many things for kids to do. The park is clean and tidy and well laid out, easy to get around and we will definitely go back. I thought it was however quite expensive at almost £100 to get 2 adults and 1 young child in to the park (with 1 of those adults to feed the penguins). It was pricey. The cafe is really nice and well themed and lots to see and do and look at. I loved it. We all loved it.
