I visited on a quiet Friday in term time with my husband and 2 children ages 3 and 5 and another couple with their 3 year old. I cannot comment on the price because the other couple treated us to the day out as we were visiting from a different area.
Getting in was lovely and easy as it was so quiet. The children really loved the animals in the entrance and the farm (especially the singing chickens!). We went on all of the rides. There was one very friendly young man operating most of the rides and as it was a quiet day they were running in 15-20 minute slots but it was clearly sign posted and didn’t cause us any problems as we still got straight on. The pure joy on my sons face on the hippo ride was fantastic!!
We had lunch in the Explorers Cafe which was fine. Plenty of choice and obviously quite pricey as you would expect these places to be. I would usually take a picnic but it is clear you are not allowed to eat picnics at the picnic tables so would be awkward I think.
We really enjoyed the zoo area. We loved feeding the birds the nectar and watching the gibbons. We also the the Olympic Games challenges as you go round the park made it more interesting and not like anything we had seen at any other zoo/park. My husband spent ages trying to run faster than an elephant!
Outdoor play areas were brilliant as was the Amazona indoor play area which is always welcome at the end of a very busy day!

I bought my Daughter a Close Encounter with the Sloths experience for her birthday and she absolutely loved it, we both did! We were met by the lovely Zoo Keeper Julie and she took us to where they prepare the animals food. Once inside the enclosure it wasn’t long before the Sloths came down for their food... they are gorgeous!! Julie was really informative, telling us about their habits etc. I highly recommend this experience for anyone that loves Sloths! And Julie, keep up the good work!!

Great day out. Went on a school day so it was nice and quiet, although this did mean that some places were closed They do advise you about this so it wasn't a problem and it means there will be new things to experience when we return :)

Plenty to do with the younger children. Well worth paying extra for the gold memberships as my youngest spends most of their time on the climbing wall and penquin plunge. Food can be a bit pricey but there are plenty of areas to have a picnic/take your own food. Get there early to avoid the queues to get in. Also worth packing extra socks for the kids as play areas can get wet (esp around panning for gold/ penquin plunge) and no-one wants a miserable child with wet socks/shoes!
