Having played there two or three times this year, I was delighted to be in the audience twice last weekend, once on Friday night to see the excellent Gatsby's Jukebox, and again on Sunday afternoon to rest my weary legs and soak up the traditional atmosphere of a great British band - The Royal Corps of Transport Association Concert Band - on one of the best-loved seafronts in the country. For a paltry Â£3.50 (Sunday afternoon) you can sit in the sun or the shade, upstairs or below decks, and either relax and be entertained, or get up and groove about, as the mood takes you. It's one of those rare places where anything goes, and all are welcomed. And the staff seem to be having a much fun as the crowd.
