A great setting for a night of entertainment. Wrap up warm as what had been a glorious hot day turned in to a chilly night and had many shivering in their seats. The band had trouble holding on to their music and things were flying around the stage. It was a good sound however regardless of the weather. Well done you guys for performing in what must have been a difficult night.

Every Wednesday there is a performance by local and sometimes international concert bands. It finishes with Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture and a fireworks display. You have to pay to sit on the actual band stand but if you are feeling thrifty, you can either sit on the beach or on the promenade for free and still hear everything and see the fireworks. Would recommend you pay so you can enjoy the acoustics.

Listened to Uckfield band at the bandstand and when the 1812 overture was played, a great selection of fireworks were let off on the beach. It was a wonderful evening, and also no drunks. All the people including the youngsters were well behaved and there to listen to the band. Such a change from other towns.

What an afternoon! I had the pleasure of watching the Police Unity Memorial Band this past Sunday, and what a fantastic band who make an excellent sound. Great selection of music played to an exceptional standard and a hugely enjoyable couple of hours. I will definitely be following these guys from now on. Thank you PUMB!

I visited the Eastbourne Bandstand to watch the Police Unity Memorial Band in July as part of the summer proms programme. I had traveled from London with my family specifically to see this band, who were absolutely fantastic. The venue itself was great, and there were lots of signs showing many varieties of entertainment all through the week, I hope to the see PUMB again there next year, fantastic evening.

Brillant fireworks and concert, great location. Must to attend a concert at the Bandstand. Book in advance at Tourist Info or at the band stand to get a discount.

We were staying in a hotel close to the bandstand and after dinner decided to go for a stroll along the prom. There was a brass band playing but as they were halfway through their performance we decided to continue our walk.On our return I peered through the
barriers that had been erected to deny the non paying public a view. There were 14 people who had paid for entrance which,at a top price of 7 pounds would have yielded a revenue of 98 pounds. Now this was on a warm Sunday evening;you would have expected a good crowd but in these difficult times people are reluctant to shell out seven pounds to see a local (presumably) brass band.Playing in front of such a small audience must have been very demoralising for the musicians who were very good.
They should make it free,or charge a nominal sum of 2-3 pounds.I'm sure that they would attract a far larger audience, and if even a bucket was passed round would glean a lot more than 100 pounds.
So come on Eastbourne council, you have a lovely resort so add to the attraction by making this attraction free.

A great & cheap evening watching a Dirty Dancing performance on the bandstand. Although in May, it was very windy & cold so the performers did a terrific job in getting a packed house up & dancing, if only to keep warm, at every opportunity.

Lovely location, great acoustics and this Queen tribute band were excellent. Nobody sat and watched as everyone was up dancing - including folk in the posh penthouses across the road!

Excellent night out at a very reasonable cost. Different tribute acts every Friday from early May to late September. You can even enjoy a drink from the bar whilst watching!

We attended a tribute to "Queen" on Friday just gone. It was excellent! Though the music was blaring out and could be heard on the seafront for some way (due to wind) it finished at a reasonable time so no one could complain about lack of sleep in the nearby hotels.

The highlight of the Friday night was a Queen tribute band in concert, they were first class and I was told all ages were rocking and rolling along the prom.

we always go down at Christmas for a good old sing song and dance to the fabulous band. Gets you in the festive spirit whatever the weather. Remember to wear your santa hat or reindeer ears

This is a bit of history kept alive. It is well maintained and the summer program is a wonderful mix of old and new.

The Eastbourne Bandstand is a good place for traditional or kitsch entertainment. If only we had better weather it would be even more popular.

It could do with more comforts - the chairs are not quite comfortable enough, there's a kind of sparseness about the place - maybe more bars or something inside would help - and the entertainments put on are of varying quality. But it has a good oldy-worldy feel and still has brass bands playing which makes one think of wartime entertainment.

Worth a visit if the sun is shining and you like the music!

Busiest bandstand in the UK. Great acts to be found there at the weekends. A very popular venue for both young and old.

I cheated and watched/listened from my bedroom window , but what I saw and heard was excellent. Very professional. I would have been happy to have paid to see it.

A couple of years ago I considered this a perk of Eastbourne. Take a leisurely stroll along the front after dinner, stop by the bandstand for a ten minutes or so and then go on. No more. If you want to see the acts - you have to pay. All fenced off. I don't know if it is like this all week but it was last Friday.
When we went previously we saw an act we liked and went back to Eastbourne a few weeks later to see them again and we paid to sit inside the bandstand. If we had only heard them and not seen we probably wouldn't have bothered going again.
We found the fencing shortsighted and mean.

Never seen a bandstand quite like this, it is enormous, with a cracking position on the promenade. The shows that are played during the season look very good, hopefully when we go back we will be able to watch some.
