great place to take the grandchildren; lots of free sheets to colour and learn about the lifeboat services; lovely things to buy and support such a worthy cause. They are so friendly to little people too couldn't do enough for us; gave the children lots of freebies which they LOVED

This museum is ideally situated on the main Eastbourne promenade and next to the Wish Tower. The museum area is small but interesting. The shop takes up the main area with a good range of goods for toddlers through to oldies and a helpful source of income for the RNLI.

Very nice small museum with a lot of local history and stories. Good gift part. A visit will take twenty minutes to half an hour.

Small shop with very small museum at the back, but don't let that fool you the volunteers that man the desk are a mine of information, if they don't have the answer they have a lot of information in loose leaf books and folders, there is even a chair and desk for you to use while you are looking. (They even found a folder for me with information on the Wish Tower next door). Not a lot of exhibits but all very interesting. It's all free but they do welcome donations or perhaps you might like to buy something.

Never miss these type of places. May be just a shop but an organization like this is run on donations and provides a magnificent service.

A shop really, but at the back had a display with the history of the lifeboat activity on this bit of coastline. Interesting.

A lovely shop selling souvenirs and presents over a wide range of prices. Open every day from 10.00am till 5.00pm in the summer but earlier in the winter. All profits to the RNLI - a very worthy cause. Staff very helpful and all volunteers.

The museum is combined with the shop, but is very interesting. It has historical stuff as well as a list of the more recent RNLI call outs.

We were staying in Eastbourne for the weekend, it was a lovely day so we had a walk along the front and came to the Lifeboat Museum. Always have to have a look and a walk around, and always support the R.N.L.I.

Although it's more of a shop than a museum please visit and pop a few pence their way.
The shop is full of gifts priced for everybody's pocket. Lots of toys and novelties for kids and some great quality goods for adults - diaries, mugs, shopping bags, even socks! The list is endless. My purchases? A wind up seagull that just made me laugh and great little dog travel kit in a tin. Wherever I am on the coast I do like to check out the RNLI. It's a great charity and on my visit to Eastbourne I discovered that they make over 20 rescues each day. They've saved over 140000 people since they were established and lost 600 of their own crews. I think there well worth supporting.

I had fond memories of this place from childhood - maybe rose coloured specs blurred by the passing of the years, but seemed to me really just a shop (albeit proceeds in a very good cause) with a tiny museum tagged on. I remember the balance being the other way round... but maybe that's just age! Worth a quick visit, and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable

The museum has shrunk since we had last visited but still plenty of history to read and many items on display. The shop has over taken a large proportion of the space but this is for a worthwhile cause afterall as they keep our waters safe and save lives! They need all the funding they can get, a little sad to see a lot of the museum has gone but it's still enjoyable and worth a short visit.

We are supporters of the RNLI so would also visit on our travels. The organisation is marvellous as they save so many lives.

Tiny area at the back of the shop, so don't allocate more than 10 minutes to absorb it, but interesting history of that ex-boat house and local rescues and history
