We went for a walk by chance on the pier on a windy day and the tea rooms looked lovely!
Little arcades and sweet shops. Very charming typical English pier

A most enjoyable evening, with dinner. There were a number of local VIPs who addressed the diners. Lots of improvements completed, & more in the pipeline elsewhere on the Pier.

After reading about the fire on Eastbourne Pier a few years ago we almost skipped going there. Fortunately though, we were visiting nearby Beachy Head and decided to check it out. It was surprisingly nice. The pier has been restored and repainted and is in great shape. They evidently don't allow fishing from the pier, resulting in an absence of fouled decking and railings from seagulls. In the middle of the pier is a Tea Room. We enjoyed reasonably priced tea and scones and felt like we had stepped back in time. Staff were very friendly and it was a unique experience. Recommended.

Beautiful old pier and lovely to walk on. We had afternoon tea in the Victorian tearoom. Service was slow but tea was nice and the prices are too

Great place, many attractions but there is no light at night. When I was walking there after 6pm I tripped over a stair, so be carefull.

Prior to the fire a few years ago, Eastbourne pier was well past its best. The fire, although not destroying in toto, put an end to its usage.

Although not fully restored to its past 'Presence', the restoration by the new owner (The Sheik) should be applauded. Even though work remains to be done on the infrastructure, it is no longer an 'eyesore' and currently looks like a viable concern.

We knew the pier 45 years ago and have revisited over the last couple of years. No, it is not a 'destination' enterprise but it's better than it was and, by the number of people using it in March, is looking like a success.

As soon as you walk past the restaurants at the beginning of the pier you then see three large plastic rubbish bins lined up! Ugh! Next up are the picnic tables which I don't consider blend in with the originality of the pier. The amusement arcades are all based in very small units and feel somewhat cramped and rather unkempt!
We ordered drinks from the bar near the end of the pier and when sitting down we had to wipe the area down as it just wasn't clean!

Particularly hate the gold painted dome and the other parts that have been painted gold! The pier was silver, white and blue and looked and blended in with the surroundings!

In the evening it's very sad to see that the Pier lighting looks out of place with the rest! It looked so much better when it had the string lights that matched the ones all along the seafront!

And finally which pier is it? Eastbourne pier or Lions pier! Confusing!!

Well the Sheik has done the pier up nice re painted shame no hands on the clock? He has got rid of the fishing at the end of the pier so the shop went as well not a nice thing for him to do someone's business

My wife and I have just returned from Eastbourne after a short winter break and a walk on the pier is a must as it not only offers fantastic views of Eastbourne but there was good refreshment facilities available at reasonable prices

A very pleasant relaxing perambulation on the pier with an ice cream and later, hot donuts. Clean, atmospheric and not too dear. Glass shop definitely worth a look.

The pier has a fascinating history which is worth spending a few minutes reading about (on a display board at the entrance). It was foggy when we visited which was a pity. On the other hand, it is rather mysterious being able to head 'out to sea' when you cannot see much. The facilities had a rather down-market feel but I suspect that on a sunny day in the summer with masses of people there, there would be a sort of carnival atmoshphere. It was relatively easy to park on the 'pay and display' area along the sea-front when we visited on a Saturday in March. And the fee for four hours was only £1.20 which seemed remarkably cheap compared with what you can pay elsewhere. Certainly the pier is worth a visit if you are in the area.

Always fun to go on a pier. This one is well looked after and was free. Chippy/ice cream shop as you enter. Plenty of seats. Wonderful looking tea shop half way along - wish I'd tried it. Nite club at the end.

Pier from a bygone era but well maintained and a joy to visit. Relax and unwind in the sea air. There is a cafe, amusements, seaside shops and more.

It was early in the year. Railings at the end were cordoned off and hopefully been replaced now. There's not much on it.
