The fire destroyed the gaming hall at the start of the pier plus the structure below. The structure has been repaired and where the hall was is an open walking deck. The pier has history running through it and the blue and white colour scheme makes it stand out, particularly when the sun shines, which is quite often in Eastbourne. The pier makes for a good stroll and fresh sea air.

Chose a beautiful day to visit the pier, sunshine makes everything look great. Although very little open at this time of year still worth walking down to the end of the pier.

Not much going on this time of year. Needs rebuilding to the old standard asap.
Would probably be more open during spring and summer.
No amusements but looked like a very nice tearoom but it wasn't open.

Lovely walk on the pier- a few small businesses- a bit cold during the winter months (just wrap up warm) a must to do-

Recently repaired after a fire it looks a little empty but I am sure new franchises will soon fill the space. There I a great cafe with a huge chandelier which offers excellent fare.

A stroll along the pier was very pleasant, whilst I'm sure it was quite the attraction in its day, it seems a little bare without the arcade and perhaps because it was out of season.

The iconic Eastbourne pier has been through a lot recently and is not the place it used to be. The fire destroyed a wonderful playground for all of us when we were growing up and is not going to be rebuilt it appears. Some of the businesses are being shut down especially sadly the fishing tackle shop which oversaw the fishing that generations have enjoyed. What will attract the holidaymaker and local alike in the future; not a lot! Very sad.

I was actually disappointed by the lack of traditional amusement arcades!

Great coffee shop on the left as you enter the pier though.

Now under new ownership lots of work being done to improve the experience for visitors.
Hopefully cafe at end of pier will be re opened as used to be a nice place to visit.
Hopefully the summer will bring lots of visitors.

Nice pier with a few restaurants on and a nice walk way around it. Was closed but is now open to the public. Probably a lot better in the summer.

After a big breakfast, had a stroll along the Pier, and a great structure, with souvenir shop’s and coffee bars. As you walk to the end this is a great place to take pictures of Eastbourne. There’s fishing available at the end, and you can hire fishing rods for the day, non-members £3.

Went to eastbourne for our anniversary and took many walks down the pier. Considering the recent fire it still looks amazing! We went to the chip shop and sweet shop. Still room for improvement but I guess the refurbishment is still undergo.

We had tea and scones on the peir it was very nicely done but the 45m wait for tea let it down. The peir was in good condition, lovely.

The pier was badly damaged a couple of years ago. It has been very well restored with still some work to be done. There is a nice chippy at the entrance. Hopefully they will utilise the restored part of the pier again for something.

Nothing much going on with the replacement of the main amusement hall, not so good for taking families with young children. What on earth have Lions got to do with the pier?

So enjoyed my saunter down to the end of the pier even though it was closed off for safety reasons. It was so blowy, great for getting rid of the cobwebs. Fantastic renovation great addition to the promenade.

just a walk round on a blustery February day nice just to do something simple on a mid week day off.
watch were you park was my only observation as we did see parking people on the prowl checking tickets.
we used the Trinity multi storey carpark approx 10 minute walk away.

Mixed views thus far and I fear this is not going to be one for traditionalists. New owners whilst clearly investing in renovations and development are reportedly no loner going to allow fishing and not renewing a number of other licenses. I was unable to discover what the mid to long term plans are but they do not seem to include a traditional pier, for better or worse.

Always a great pier, just a pity that the fire caused so much damage and the repair is taking so long.

The land end of the pier has been reconstructed but it seems that they have not replaced many of the kiosks.
That said, it was great for a bracing January walk in the sleet along the pier.

I have known the pier since childhood and always loved visiting it. The fire was a real tragedy and I hope it will be restored to its former glory and that the end of the pier theatre will be regenerated. It is good to see fishermen and families using the pier.

Since the fire and coming into new ownership, the pier has started to regain its appearance. A great pier with exceptional views of the town and good places to eat and drink.

As someone who worked on the renovation of the pier after the fire, I'm amazed and stupified by the amount of congratulatory posts saying well done to the Council for renovating the pier! The pier is (and always will be) privately owned and all renovation and reconstruction was carried out by a specialist private company. Those guys in the orange boiler suits who put their lives on the line in adverse weather conditions are the ones who should be congratulated for their work - not the council!!!
