Was nice to wander around freely whilst it's being restored after last year's fire and you can still go right to the end of the pier The inaccessible work area that is being repaired can be viewed through various portholes [adult and child level] and is worth seeing in itself.

The pier was devastated by fire in 2014 but work is rapidly underway to restore it to it's former glory. Even what remains is worth the walk to the end. Such piers are rare and a traditional part of British seaside life. It will be wonderful when the pier is completely back to normal.

Major construction work going on to rebuild the burned down parts of the pier. Still, a landmark of Eastbourne. As most piers it offers gambling and overpriced crappy food and drinks. Even though its not very well maintained it is still a landmark of Eastbourne and definitely worth a visit, if only for the flair and scenery.

Really enjoyed a walk along the Pier, coupled with coffee and tea cake in the Victorian Tea Rooms. Interesting to see the workers rebuilding the part of the pier that was damaged last year.

The pier is under major refurbishment after last years fire, so to be fair we cannot comment too much, but what has been completed looked OK, it was a lovely long walk with stunning panoramic views. There are places open to eat and drink.

We took a stroll along the pier there are still some small shops open even though it is being restored after the fire last year. You can see were they have put down new wooden flooring.

I decided to go for a jog along Eastbourne seafront ,I found myself along the pier which is like a little village,families and disabled people will find everything on one level. this place is special,so are many othe piers around the UK.(nice to see the restoration process in action after the recent fire)

what i like about the pier is it is easy acsses and the building work after the fire is ,moving along at a great pace.was told that the new structure may be opening in august,also fishing is at the end of the pier there are two decks to fish from.top and bottom

Glad to see they are spending a lot of money restoring this lovely old pier. Certainly the focal point in this Victorian town and important keeping it up to date. They are laying beautiful new timber decking and making it a good place to visit. Will call back in the summer to see if they are finished. You are able to fish off the end of the pier and you can hire the rods etc. so children love it. Quite a lot of shelter for windy days so cannot wait to go back.

It would have been easy to allow Eastbourne Pier to decay after the fire that damaged it so badly a couple years back but the council took the brave step of investing in its restoration. I love the pier for its famous evening mumuration of starlings. There are still places to eat, buy souvenirs and have fun. And there's nothing better than a brisk stroll out to the far end where fishermen gather and the tackle shop plies its trade. At the moment the restoration work denies access to much if the town end but, when it's done, I look forward to what will be one our our best remaining piers.

Although damaged by fire in the summer of 2014, this Eugenius Birch pier is being restored and much of the original Victorian fabric remains undamaged. This is how a pier should be - ornate, dripping with fancy iron-work, quirky, melancholy and pretty.

I love piers and was so sad when Eastbourne pier went up in flames. Happily the renovation work is well underway and it looks as though the pier's former glory will be reinstated. You must walk to the end of the pier on a visit to Eastbourne, come rain or shine. Chips on the pier make a fine lunch but beware of the seagulls.

Everyone but everyone enjoys a walk on the pier. This is not the longest in the world but worth a stroll to the end.The centre of the pier is boarded off following an obvious serious fire. Viewing windows allow you to see the extent of the damage and work in progress.

went for a walk on the pier it is at the moment being renovated after a fire so not a lot going on but nice views out to sea on a clear day. shops that were open seem to be very expensive they need to cut prices if they want to sell goods

We took a bracing walk on the pier, they are still working on it after the fire, but it's worth a look for the view. You can have something to eat and drink in the café or browse the gift shops, if it was better weather the view would be spectacular, a good old fashioned thing to do.

The victorian pier is the epitome of an English seaside attraction, and the one at Eastbourne is a fine example, but is in desperate need of a full refurbishment. Great to walk to the end to appreciate the views, but sadly let down by peeling paint, a lack of maintenance and missing sections of the decorative lights at night.
It has a couple of cafes, although the Victorian Tea Room is an overpriced disappointment, and the chippy at the entrance is substandard. If in need of good quality fish and chips then take a stroll along to Qualisea in Terminus Road or one of a couple in Carlisle Road.
Sadly the fire in July 2014 destroyed the Blue Room arcade on the pier, and hopefully it's demolition and the plan to rebuild it will see something new and exciting take it's place.

This is a lovely old-fashioned pier to stroll along on a sunny day, have fish and chips or an ice cream, explore the lovely little shops, cafes and boutiques and just soak up that view. Even though the restoration of the burnt-out section is under way, there are viewing platforms to see the work and walkways on each side to reach all the attractions out to see. A must visit.
