Me and my boyfriend went there for a date, and it was amazing! The service was great, the staff were friendly, and the food was most definitely worth the price. Very impressive, and definitely worth a visit.

Delicious, well prepared, traditional style food served by very friendly and professional staff, attentive yet unobtrusive.
I chose a prawn starter - I seldom choose prawns but these sounded nice & were very good indeed. Served with a simple tomato dip and separate and rather unusual sweet syrup which I loved.
For main I really enjoyed veal in a mushroom sauce with perfectly cooked vegetables and roast potato cubes, all excellent and with good seasoning.
For dessert pancakes filled with cream & amaretto.
My menu, excellent value @ £20
Gamberi con salsa piccanteKing prawns (shell off) deep fried in a light batter with chives and lemon zest then served with a spicy tomato sauce and chilli caramel
Vitello Alla Panna e FunghiEscallops of veal cooked in a white wine, mushroom and cream sauce
Crespelle San Lorenzo Pancakes served cold with a fresh cream, amaretti biscuits and amaretto liqueur filling

My wife and I called in for a meal while on holiday in the lovely town of Eastbourne. The young lady who showed us to our seats was very friendly and helpful and was very professional in dealing with us. We had been eating in coffee shops earlier In the day, while having a great days shopping in the town, so we missed a starter and went for a main course.
I had the Grilled Calves liver and Italian bacon, and can say it was one of the best Liver dishes I have ever had, the liver was tender and tasty as was the bacon. So many restaurant's use lamb's liver in this dish, it it so easy to identify by it's dry feeling in the mouth. My wife had a pasta dish which she has raved about since. The wine, coffee and dessert were all excellent. All was very well priced, I just wish that we lived in Eastbourne, as we would be dining here on a regular basis. It was nice to see the owner going around the customers to have a chat, and to make sure that they enjoyed their food. A true Italian restaurant !

3 course meal on a Saturday night... food was all ok. Prawns in risotto were nice, minestrone soup just ok, lamb cutlets overpriced. Tiramisu was sprinkled with too much cocoa powder. However the worst thing about our experience was the feeling we were being rushed. We were a party of three and there was virtually no gap between courses, plates were removed before the rest of the table had finished their meal which resulted in me still having most of my dessert still to eat whilst the table was cleared. This seemed very rude and made me rush my food. We were given a complimentary Limoncelo which was nice. But the whole meal took just over an hour which resulted in indigestion. The staff seemed keen but probably a little too so. Apart from the lamb the rest of the meal was reasonably priced. We were too full to stay for coffee.
One thing that would have been nice would be oil with the bread instead of vinegar, which I would think more in keeping with an Italian meal.

We have dined here often, usually with friends who visit even more frequently. Good value food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Usually busy but not packed out of season. If full, try the adjacent Pomodoro e Mozzarella Pizzeria with same owners and similar (but not identical) menu.

The food is superb; really good range, well cooked to order, and overall delicious. The service was delightful. Plenty of staff and quick but in pressured service. Also very nice and humorous! Strongly recommended!

Visited Eastbourne recently and our Hotel recommended this Restaurant and are we glad he did. It is the best Italian meal we have ever had. We tried to book a table but they could only fit us in at
6. 00 pm. When we arrived it was packed even at that early time. We were served very promptly and the meal was superb. We opted for the set menu . You could have two or three courses and it was a very comprehensive menu , very varied and lots of choice. The staff are very efficient and friendly and very helpful without being pushy. It wasn't cheap but not extortionate but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. The ambience was very relaxed and what we paid including wine was worth every penny. We will certainly go there again next time we visit Eastbourne.

Was taken to the Locanda by aged parents who have eaten here before so had reasonable expectations. I wasn't disappointed. We were well looked after and after being served drinks and our food order taken we waited maybe 20 - 30 minutes for our starters. This was fine as we had time to talk and the wait was worth it. I had scallops wrapped in smoked bacon on a bed of spinach which was excellent. This was followed by Tagliatelle Del Duca, Parma ham with mushrooms, well cooked and very tasty although the 'chunks' of ham were big enough to require some chewing. After desserts and coffees we were served a palate cleansing sorbet when we had a slight humour failure on the part of the young man who was serving us. I must remember not to make smart remarks to staff who have just served a busy 3 hour lunch sitting! This did not detract from a pleasant meal and although quite expensive I would recommend this restaurant. Take a look at their on line menus and come and enjoy.

5 of us visited on a Sat evening - rang to book and had to eat at 6pm as they were full later! Happy to eat early and certainly weren't disappointed. The food was top notch and plentiful, the (house) wine properly chilled and good quality, the staff professional, pleasant and friendly, the ambience all you could wish. What more can I say? An unmitigated success! Will look forward to visiting again next time we're in the area.

Visited this restaurant two year ago and enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. Visited again yesterday, and I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I have had for a long time, in the UK or abroad. The mussel starter was superb - big fat mussels, and the liver main excellent. My wife said her goats cheese starter followed by pasta was very good. The attentive staff and refined atmosphere contributed to a good evening at a reasonable price.

I recently stayed in Eastbourne for two nights. Based on the reviews on Tripadvisor and from my B&B hosts I decided to give this restaurant a try. I also would like to say that I am by no means an expert on restaurants and food.
The first night I got there early (around 6 pm) but it was already relatively busy. I was lucky enough to get in as this seems to be one of the more popular restaurants in town, and with good reason!
The food was superb, it was presented beautifully, portion size was proper and it was tasteful. In addition bread and olives, as well as I believe plain tap water, were complimentary. Although I believe this is quite common there are still pleny of restaurants that will charge you for this.
The food was prepared quite quickly (probably also because I was there by myself) even though it was busy. And this didn't seem to go at the expense of the quality.
For 2 people or more the pace seemed more at ease as most people that were there when I got in were still enjoying their time when I left. To me it felt as if either a more quick or a more slow pace was possible depending on the situation and your preference.
Above all I was most impressed with the service. The waiters were clearly well educated in their job. They were all dressed the part, had great manners and were extremely friendly. Additionally they were very attentful and very aware of the needs of the customer.
Pricing was not cheap but neither extremely expensive, especially considering the quality of the food and the service.
The second night I got there a little later (after 7 pm) and the place was packed. The lady who received me tried to fit me in but there really wasn't any room at that moment. I was asked if I could come back in 30 minutes as there would be a table available then. I came back about 25 minutes later and they were just preparing the table.... talk about perfect timing.
During that night I saw many more people that wanted a table but didn't have a reservation, who unfortunaly were told there was no place.
So if you want to be certain of a table, especially in the weekend it is highly advised you make a reservation.
Don't go here if you just want a quick, really cheap Italian dish and get out again. Actually I think they don't even served pizza at this establishment but only at their other place, which is right next door. For a quick, cheap pizza I guess that would be the better place to go. This restaurant is much more suitable if you're there for a proper quality meal and are willing to pay a price accordingly.

Don't judge a book by it's cover, or a restaurant by its décor! Fantastic service with a smile & a fair few jokes to boot. Sizeable menu. We skipped starters, but nevertheless they all sounded good. Good GnT. My fish medley was superb & everyone else on the table really enjoyed their meals. I'll definitely be going the next time I'm in Eastbourne

I believe it shares a kitchen with the Restaurant next door Pomodoro e Mozzarella but is much quieter and therefore more appropriate for those seeking a more refined dining option.
I say romantic for on one of our visits there was a marriage proposal, and acceptance, on the next table.

We have eaten at this restaurant on many occasions both for lunch and Dinner and the last time was sadly after my Mothers funeral. It was a bitter sweet occasion and the staff were tactful and considerate. We arrived extremely late owing to the dreadful weather conditions and without doubt they staff had to remain much later than normal. The food was marvellous and considering all 10 of us had different meals it arrived piping hot and at the same time, which in my opinion is no mean feat !! I would highly recommend this charming family run Italian restaurant .

I have eaten here for many years and haven't written a review as yet. I thought I should do it while Im on this site.
I have never had a bad meal here, with the best service I have had, and believe me I'm of a discerning character and expect good service. From more chilled ice water to another fork the service is spot on and efficient.
The food is superb. Try the set menu , with calves liver or salmon in the most delicious sauce. Fresh vegetables served separately. The pasta is al dente which is how it should be and the sauces that accompany the pasta are so tasty I want to move in.The pinot wine is by far the best pinot Ive had.
I absolutely love it here and wish I could go a couple of times a week. In fact when I leave I want to return the next day,,unfortunately Im not that decadent. You must book in advance for fri sat eves and sunday day.
What I love is that if you go im the week it is busy and not like some of the restaurants in Eastbourne that resemble a morgue because theyre dead....not fun with no atmosphere.

The place was absolutely packed on a Thursday night so we were pleased we'd booked.
Despite this, the service was very good with the possible exception of our second carafe of water which the waiter forgot but then later apologised and we suddenly got two carafes within a couple of minutes of each other but this wasn't particularly important.
We got complimentary bread & olives whilst we were looking at the menus and we both took set menus which offer a great choice.
I started with the Gamberi con salsa piccante (you get 4pcs) and my wife had the Minestrone.
The prawns, I think, had been warmed in the oven as the batter wasn’t crispy but they were tasty so I didn’t complain. The Minestrone soup was very good and tasted fresh.

For mains, we had grilled Calves liver which was excellent and served with potatoes (Sautéed & new boiled) and a selection of veg, and the Salmon filet which was also very well cooked (not over) and was lovely and moist. With regard to the veg, if I’m being really picky I could say that the carrot was overcooked but it didn’t detract from the meal.

Dessert, it had to be Panna Cotta which tasted great but was a little too firm if you again want to be picky.

There’s quite a good choice of wines on offer although I would baulk at paying £25 for Pinot Grigio but the Primitivo we drank was excellent.

We were also served a complimentary small Limoncello with sorbet at the end of our meal which was very refreshing and not at all sweet.

A really lovely meal, great atmosphere and all in all very efficient service.
Great value at just a tad under £60,— for two.
It seems to be the place for special occasions as there were 5 birthday celebrations going on.

Booking in advance is definitely advised.

Wonderful meal beautifully presented with faultless service. We were early birds lucky to be accommodated as the restaurant was soon packed with a likely regular clientele - says it all doesn't it. Highly recommended.

An Eastbourne friend suggested we eat here but hadn't thought it necessary to book. Amazed to find it throbbing on a Tuesday evening, but il padrone found us a comfortable table. Simple, fresh and generous genuine Italian dishes were a delight - insalata tricolore, proscuitto and melon, vitello with a mushroom sauce, fegato and salmon were all well cooked and enjoyable. Two courses with wine and service came to £27 a head and we were given a limoncello with our coffee. Italians were eating there in this very English town.

Wonderful meal at this restaurant. Extensive menu and reasonable wine list. Everything myself and my husband had was delicious and beautifully presented. Delightful waiting staff. Quite busy for a weekday lunchtime, with many regulars who all seemed to be as impressed as we were.
