My wife and I spent an overnight stay in Eastbourne as part of a wedding anniversary. We had found the good reviews of La Laconda on line and decided to give it a try. It was well worth the drive down and the walk from the hotel. We were lucky to have booked, as within minutes it was full and people were beginning to be turned away. We ordered our drinks - a glass of Merlot and one of Chardonnay - then the mains; Filetti di salmone del Duca for my wife and I had Vitello al funghi. The drinks came quickly and we did not expect the mains to arrive for some time, as it was so busy and everything is cooked from scratch, not a microwave! The other patrons were a complete mix of ages and nationalities, many of whom were regulars who were welcomed as old friends by the staff - always a good sign. The mains came sooner than we expected and we had not even finished the olives, admittedly not the best I have had, but my wife gave them 7/10. The salmon that my wife had was cooked perfectly and she even liked the asparagus, which she usually prefers prepared in another way. The veal for me was perfect, although there was a lot of mushroom sauce that swamped the meat and made it look as though there was not much of it. However, under the tasty sauce were three excellent cuts that fell away when the knife approached them - just how I like it. The new potatoes were just right and the beans, carrots and cauliflower were as fresh as when they were picked, crisp and tasty. The wines complemented the dishes very well. Desserts, though we were almost full, were delicious. My wife's amaretto filled pancakes were very strong and I smelt the liqueur from across the table. My ice cream in a delicate pastry cup were not not what I would expect as being 'home made' in an Italian restaurant, more Walls than gelati, which was very disappointing, but still all I could have eaten from the dessert menu at the time. We did not have coffee, so cannot comment on anything after the dessert. The staff were very polite and friendly and the odd joke between us made it relaxing and added to the atmosphere. All in all an excellent meal and we would happily visit again if we are in the area and recommend it to anyone.

We eat here regularly and the food is always the same exceptional standard. We visit for lunches and dinners sometimes as a couple but often with friends and the service is always charming, friendly and professional

Not the best restaurant we have ever visited but it was very good. Based ed on this one visit we would recommend it. The portions were about right for us quality over quantity ever time. Do not know if they can deliver this quality of product every time will have to go back to see. We'll done to everyone that made our night so enjoyable.

5 of us ate here on a Saturday night and had a really superb dining experience! We booked a table (a good job, as the place was packed!). Although it was very busy, the service was exceptional: prompt and very friendly. The food was so good. We all really enjoyed it and agreed that this was one of the best Italian restaurants we'd been in.
It was reasonably priced with decent wines, and we all came away very happy indeed! What a great restaurant!

The menu and food were good although the portions were small but the service seemed insincere. However, I was a tourist and the place was very busy, especially with locals.

This restaurant was picked by close friends of ours for a Sunday lunch. They know I'm generally very partial to Italian restaurants so I was naturally wondering what La Locanda would be like. The answer was wonderful with every element of the food, drink and service at a very high level.
As far as I could make out the entire staff were actually Italian, rather unusual these days! I'm meeting a friend in Eastbourne next week - guess where we'll be eating?

A good welcome to a busy restaurant on a Sunday night. The food was good, piping hot, and despite a very long menu, which tends to put me off, very good.

We went to Eastbourne for the day and stayed for dinner at La Locanda. One of several visits a year.
As usual the food was superb. I had Lasagne, which was eccellent and my partner had liver and bacon which he thoroughly enjoyed. All the staff are young, polite, helpful and very attentive. We were also greeted by the owner which is something that does not happen in all restaurants.
We look forward to our next visit to Eastbourne and eating again at La Locanda.

A excellent restaurant, service was good, waiters attentive food was superb, my wife is a strict veggie so we usually eat at italian restaurants this was one of the best we have been ti in a long while. It showed that it was not a part of a massive chain where the bean counters control portion control and the corporate identity

I own RedCarpet VIP Chauffers of London. My Brazilian clients wanted to visit Brighton and Beachy Head. Not knowing the area we askwd the doorman Gary of the Grand hotel and he reccommended La Locanda Del Duca. Great choice. My clienrs said the food and service were excellent. One more success for the little black book!

A Saturday evening meal that was pre-booked for 6pm, as we were going on to the Theatre later.
A few years since our last visit and I must say, it was as good as ever.Impeccable service and manners from all the staff.
Everything spotlessly clean, was impressed with the decent sized napkins.Beer and wine was brought to the table very quickly and our mains courses followed soon after, even though the restaurant was becoming full of customers.
We both enjoyed our dishes of lovely, succulent Salmon with vegetables and potatoes. The atmosphere was buzzing by the time we left.
One concession at this place is that one can have 10% off the bill on the production of Theatre tickets. The only negative was the seating. If one is sat at a table in the middle, as we were, then you have the waiters brushing past you at very close quarters, which can be very disconcerting.
Next time a table by a wall.

I have been to this restaurant many times and have found everything about it to be excellent. I booked a table for eight people two days ago and had a splendid evening. This evening I booked a table for four people. We were very pressurised into our choice of meals, it felt very much as if the waiter was looking for the next cover. At the end of a very good meal we were offered a complimentary liqueur, I asked for a whiskey and was told that was not on offer and the waiter made a somewhat sarcastic remark to my guests to the effect I had a cheek asking for one. I pointed out that I had always been served one on other occasions. The waiter agreed to serve one and told me he would find out who had been spoiling me. This was not said with any humour. (I notice on another tripadvisor review, they were served complimentary brandy)
Great pity as I have previously had excellent food served by very friendly staff.

Went there last week while on a short break to Eastbourne. We thought this place looked
better than most of the restaurants in Terminus Road, and so it proved to be. We hadn'tbooked and it was doing well for a Monday night. We ate from the set menu which contained
quality items such a smoked salmon and San Daniele ham and melon for starters. I had anice fillet of salmon and my husband chose veal with mushroom sauce which he enjoyed.
All the veg were included. The service was friendly and efficient. Good air-conditioning too.Would go again when in Eastbourne.

A classy Italian this. All the waiters, both male & female spoke with Italian accents (suspect some were cast-offs from The Sopranos) !! Service was very efficient & extremely good humoured. No complaints with the food, all 4 of us enjoyed both starters & main courses. Only slight complaints were that portions could have been larger & the Italian wines were a bit over-priced (nearly 20 quid for Frascati) ! Nice airy, clean establishment & the tablecloths were pristeen (which my other half always notices). Would thoroughly recommend & will go again next year - under an assumed name of course !

Great Italian food. Friendly entertaining staff. Reservations highly recommended as the restaurant is very popular and often full. The adjoining pizzaria also has fine food if you prefer less formal dining.

A bit more expensive than other places but probably worth it. We got a complementary brandy as well

We booked a table here at short notice to cheer my in laws up and what a great choice. The staff are bright and friendly, the food authentic Italian and really tasty and the price not bad at all. £130 for 4 people, including beer, mineral water and a bottle of wine. The menu has loads of choice with pasta, seafood, steak, chicken etc.
The only thing to be improved on is the decor which is very pink. Other than that, absolutely perfect!

We took my aunt here for her 90th birthday and enjoyed our lunch very much. We had trout with a herbed crust which was excellent plus new potatoes and vegetables. Only criticism is that the vegetables were a bit over-cooked. A bottle of rose was good and well-priced and two of us had tirimasu for dessert. My aunt was surprised and delighted by a candle on hers with Happy Birthday on the plate. My husband chose gelato but it wasn't ice cream but disappointingly a sorbet and no explanation given. Service was very good and staff very pleasant. Not too difficult to park around there either.

Arrived on a Monday night in tennis week, without a reservation. The place was packed but they found room for us inside 10 minutes. The food is very good, the wine reasonably priced and the service is excellent. The menu is extensive with good value set menus included. You can pick and mix across the menus as well. With a medium priced wine it came to about £30 a head, so not the cheapest place in town but worth it.

We always come here when we visit Eastbourne. It is the best place to eat by far. Granted it is not cheap but the food and service is excellent. It is always busy but the service is still spot on. Efficient but not obtrusive. Good sized portions, beautifully presented. Lovely evening

We visited this restaurant twice in a short stay in Eastbourne. The Food here is some of the best prepared and presented we have eaten of its type. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, professional and courteous.
The food was piping hot and as tasty as you can ask to get. service was very efficient with no long waits or gaps at all.
The food did seem quite expensive compared to others in the area. that said, the feel of the restaurant was relaxed and provided a great atmosphere to enjoy your meal.
We did witness them dealing with a particularly stroppy disabled customer and the staff remained calm and professional throughout. Certainly I would not have managed that level of professionalism given the abusive and rude attitude of the "customer". Again all credit to them as dealing with that and keeping it from being an issue for others meant even this could not spoil the evening.
Why did we visit twice. - Because the food was great and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.
