We turned up without a reservation on a Monday night and found the place busy. They found us a table OK. Staff were rushed, but kept in good humour and remained friendly and attentive. Food was good. Will visit again.

My wife and I have used this restaurant for many years without complaint. The food is cooked to a very high standard by a skilled staff under the direction of the Italian restaurant owner. We recommend with confidence. Booking is essential.

Our host chose this lovely local authentic Italian restaurant for us to eat lunch. He's a regular diner, and hoped we'd enjoy it too. The nearly 90 year old gentleman in question is our former deputy head teacher from more than 50 years ago! It was a brief reunion for him, and my wife and myself. We chose the fixed price menu of 3 courses. In short it was the most appetisingly presented and wonderfully tasty food we have eaten in ages. The kitchen and owners have shown absolute attention to detail, making the experience perfect. The dishes looked beautiful on the plate, and the flavour and quality matched our already kindled expectations. We can assume that if this is how the fixed price menu is delivered, then the a la carte must be sublime. In fact our host assured us the quality is always great. Our old friend and host Johnnie J was so relieved that we loved La Locanda. We are planning another trip to Eastbourne and a return visit to this gem of a restaurant. Top marks in every respect.

I haven't eaten here but it is next door to the Pomodoro and I believe is is their "sister" restaurant. It is a little quieter from the look of it and much smaller than the Pomodoro. However I think that it uses the same waiters and the same kitchen so its bound to be good.

Very tasty Italian food. Extremely busy Saturday evening, but the staff coped with it well. Unfortunately we were next to the stairwell descending to the toilets.

Arriving at a busy time and not having prebooked, it was pleasing to be met with such a charming welcome and later such good service.
In addition to the extensive a la carte options, a standard three course range of food was available at a very reasonable fixed price. I availed myself of the latter.The quality of each dish was excellent and the impressive main course (the salmon was the choice here for me) was accompanied by a pleasing side dish of vegetables.
Dining alone I took wine only by the glass (good value) and enjoyed a grappa as a finale.The restaurant was clean, the tables set out well and the service sublime.

We went at lunchtime when it was fairly quiet, it was my first visit and I have to say I will definately go again. The food was excellent and service very good. Good variety on the menu and well presented. Comfortable and clean a great place to bring friends.

I had Saturday lunch with parents and sister. La Locanda Del Duca offers a very good set menu, one for weekday dining and one for weekend at £19.95. We all opted for the set menu as it's very varied. Bread and olives are provided too. We started with smoked salmon, tricolore and prawn cocktail. Although this is a set menu portion size and quality is exceptional. We followed with liver & bacon and the salmon served in a delicate brandy and cream sauce. Again portions are generous and beautifully cooked fresh veg (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, new potatoes, roast potatoes) is included. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and only one of our number made it through to the dessert, ice cream. The restaurant is large but well spaced tables, proper napkins and gleaming table wear. Service is very friendly, attentive but not intrusive and efficient and at one point the owner came by each table to see how we were. We had a fabulous time and will be back as soon as we can.

I'm not easy to please so I wanted to say how impressed I am with this Italian Restaurant- made me very comfortable as a solo eater - the staff very pleasant and the food was excellent. I have to admit I didn't expect this and was pleasantly surprised.

Really good food and good choice whether you want something light or more substantial. The staff were very friendly and efficient. I would definately return when I'm next in Eastbourne. Far nicer than the usual Italian chains in town. The complimentry limoncello at the end of the meal was a very nice end to a very nice meal.

The restaurant was not busy at 5.45 but it gradually filled and the service was friendly and food excellent, so do not hesitate ti recommend it.
We had plenty of time to enjoy our food before a short stroll to the theatre, very impressed that our waitress noticed our tickets in my shirt pocket and gave us the discount which was an additional bonus.
