Food was great, friendly service, i can recommend the chilli paneer, although i found i was too full to finish the lovely lamb biriani. It made such a nice change to the usual Bangladeshi take on Indian food. The vegetarian couple next to me were very well fed too.

We started with Swarga Kozhi- marinated chicken with onions garlic ginger, tomato, curry leaves and a host of spices which swirled around the palate, wonderful ! I followed that with Koehikodan dum Biriyani - chicken and spices cooked and sealed in a pot to marinate with the rice. So tasty. This was an excellent meal and friendly staff who explained the food helped the excellent meal.

Always expect to be disappointed when we go somewhere with such fab reviews. BUT. we had a dosa each so we could try both, the sambar it came with was wonderful. For mains my partner had the lamb and we shared the aubergine curry and the lentil and spinach curry and a coconut rice. All absolutely wonderful, thanks for a lovely evening.

Great food and the lunch deal was such a bargain! We felt a bit like we were a nusance to one waiter just being there but otherwise the service was good and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks (try the lime and ginger juice - it was lovely!) Also very please with the wide variety and clear labelling of vegan options. Would happily visit again if we're in the area!

Wow I love curry but I have to say this is the BEST curry we’ve ever had, so flavoursome, fresh and authentic. If you are in the area it’s an absolute must. The staff were super friendly as well yum yum yum

A really unusual Indian experience in England, the food is so tasty and the gluten free range is extensive. A must for anyone who is bored with "trad english" Indian cuisine.

Visited on a Wednesday evening. Staff were really friendly, offered advice and suggestions for our meals.
Food was delicious, well priced, nice deco and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
At the end of our evening the waitress /owner presented us with a gift that made our evening extra special.

Was a bit of an experiment given this is very different from the typical Indian experience in the UK (Bangladeshi) but it was absolutely amazing. Very friendly and helpful service to guide you around the menu and the food was simply stunning. A definite do again if we're in Eastbourne.

A wonderful restaurant. If you like south Indian food and particularly that of Kerala this is a must to visit. Wonderful subtle curries that you won't find in you normal Indian restaurant.

Fantastic Keralan food. Been to Kerala many times, this brought it all back. The fish curry was full of subtle flavours and the roast egg delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great food at a good price. Like being back in Kottayam.

One night in Eastbourne and we chanced upon Malayalam.

I booked this restaurant as there were lots of vegan and gluten free options and the food was advertised as authentic. Me and my husband were not disappointed the food and service was amazing !

We were last at the Malayalam for lunch in September 2020, had intended to come back sooner and finally made it on Friday evening with some friends. Fortunately we had booked a table (even though we were eating early at 6 pm) which is definitely a good idea as it quickly filled up and some people were turned away at the door.
For starters two of us shared the Palakkadan Dosa, two others shared the Kerala Puffs whilst the other one had the Masala Dosa. For main two of us had Kozhikodan Dum Biriyani (chicken), one had the special Aadu Kizhi Biriyani (lamb in banana leaf) and the other two had Kallunkal Kurumulagu Kozhi (chicken curry). Only 2 of our party had space for dessert and chose ice cream.All of the food was delicious, beautifully presented and good sized portions. Very good value for money too considering the attention to detail and quality of the food. It was great to enjoy traditional South Indian food and the dosa is really delicious. The biriyani is cooked the South Indian way and so tasty.
All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming.In order to avoid disappointment it is definitely worth booking in advance.

We’d pre-booked the table about a week in advance and were so glad we did as even on a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was really quite busy.
We’ve been to Kerala in India a few times, so our expectations of a nice meal were quite high, although we were trying to manage our expectations down a bit…..just in case.
